YouTube TV’s redesigned mobile Live Guide was reported as widely rolling out to Android and iOS on January 11, 2026. The update makes the Live tab more like the service’s TV guide, with a denser program schedule, horizontal browsing, a Jump to live button, and additional program details and actions. It is a change to the Live Guide—not a redesign of the entire app—and a rollout report does not guarantee that every account or device has identical controls.
What changed in the mobile Live Guide?
The earlier mobile Live view offered a simpler channel list and a preview near the top, with less of the schedule visible at once. The redesigned guide puts channel icons along the left and shows more programming and timing information in a grid-like layout modeled on YouTube TV’s television guide. It is intended to make it easier to scan what is on and what is coming up without opening channels one by one.
According to 9to5Google’s January 11 rollout report, the guide displays program duration and remaining time, and users can swipe horizontally through upcoming programming. When browsing ahead, a red Jump to live control provides a way back to the current schedule. The report also describes a Sort control near the upper-left area of the guide.
The visual details and long-press behavior below were reported by 9to5Google; Google’s support documentation confirms Live Guide customization but does not document every element of this particular redesign.

How to browse programs and return to live TV
- Open the YouTube TV app and select Live.
- Browse the channel grid, then swipe or scroll horizontally through the schedule to inspect upcoming programs. The precise gesture may vary between devices.
- Tap a program to watch it or open its usual details.
- If you have moved ahead in the schedule, select Jump to live to return to the current time.
Long-pressing a program reportedly opens a floating preview and details sheet. It can include a description and actions to add the program to the Library, set a reminder, go to the program, or open its channel page. These options may not appear for every item or account, and the behavior is not fully documented in Google’s help page.
Sort and customize the channel guide
Google’s Live Guide help page says you can hide networks, reorder them, and choose a guide arrangement. The documented paths are:

- From the guide: Open Live, select Sort, then Edit.
- From settings: Select your profile picture, open Settings, then choose Live guide.
Google says guide preferences are reflected across devices on the account. That does not necessarily mean every TV app immediately displays the same view: check that the same account is signed in and select the Custom guide where the TV interface offers a guide selector. If a network is missing, check whether it was hidden or whether the guide is using a different sort mode. Google also notes that newly added networks may need to be added to an existing custom lineup.
Some user guidance lists options such as Default, Custom, Most watched, A–Z, and Z–A, but Google’s cited help page does not enumerate all current labels. The available choices can depend on the app and should be checked in the guide itself.

Which devices have the redesign?
The January report covered YouTube TV apps on Android and iOS, including phones and tablets. It did not specify minimum Android or iOS versions, an app-version number, or a country-by-country schedule. Nor does the report establish that the layout is identical on every phone and tablet. Google’s Android app listing describes YouTube TV across phones, tablets, computers, and TVs, but that broad device support is not proof that every redesign control appears on every platform.
If the new guide has not appeared
The report described the redesign as widely rolling out, not as a simultaneous release to every subscriber. If your Live tab still looks different:

- Check the App Store or Google Play for a YouTube TV app update.
- Fully close the app—or force-stop it on Android—then reopen it and check Live again.
- If possible, compare the same account on another supported device or on the web. This can help distinguish a device or session issue from an account-wide setting.
- If channels or ordering seem wrong, review the guide’s sort mode and edit the lineup through Live > Sort > Edit or Profile picture > Settings > Live guide.
Updating and restarting are sensible checks, but they cannot guarantee access if availability depends on a remote rollout or differs by platform. Reinstalling is not a first step; it can create avoidable sign-in and settings friction.

A guide update, not a whole-app or service change
The January report described changes to the Live tab; it said the Home and Library areas had not received the same treatment at that time. The guide redesign does not, by itself, change YouTube TV’s channel lineup, subscription terms, DVR rules, or content rights. A channel’s absence may reflect guide customization or availability, while a failed stream is a separate playback or service problem—not necessarily a guide-design issue.

For someone who frequently browses live channels on a phone, the denser schedule and in-guide actions may make discovery more convenient. But the redesign alone is not a reason to subscribe: check the channels available in your area, sports coverage and blackout restrictions, current price, and terms at YouTube TV before deciding.
