The $179 NFL Sunday Ticket offer was genuine, but it is no longer available. Google announced the limited-time promotion on April 25, 2024, for eligible new YouTube TV subscribers. It ended on May 16, 2024, and should not be confused with the price of NFL Sunday Ticket for the 2026 season.

What the $179 promotion included
The promotion reduced the NFL Sunday Ticket price from the then-standard $349 for YouTube TV subscribers to $179. It was aimed at people who were new to YouTube TV, with contemporary coverage describing eligibility in terms of signing up with a different account as well. That did not mean that creating a duplicate account automatically guaranteed eligibility.

Google announced the offer alongside the 2024 NFL Draft. According to contemporary reporting, Google described the promotion as providing $215 in total savings when the Sunday Ticket discount and YouTube TV introductory pricing were considered together.

The real cost was more than $179
The headline price covered Sunday Ticket only. The promotion also required a YouTube TV subscription, which was advertised at $57.99 per month for the first three months after a $15 discount. The cited standard YouTube TV price at the time was $72.99 per month.
In practical terms, the offer consisted of:
- NFL Sunday Ticket: $179
- YouTube TV: $57.99 per month for the first three months
- After the introductory period: $72.99 per month at the then-current standard rate
- Possible extras: taxes and optional services such as NFL RedZone
Those figures describe the 2024 promotion, not current 2026 pricing. YouTube’s official NFL Sunday Ticket page now displays different promotional and bundle presentations, including one showing $378 or 12 payments of $31.50 plus the YouTube TV Base Plan. Because prices and offers can change, the amount shown at official checkout is the figure that matters today.
Which games did Sunday Ticket provide?
NFL Sunday Ticket is primarily an out-of-market package for Sunday afternoon regular-season games. It is designed for fans who want to watch games that are not being shown in their local market.

The $179 purchase did not mean that every NFL game was included. It did not automatically provide:
- Sunday afternoon games broadcast locally in your market
- Sunday Night Football
- Monday Night Football
- Thursday Night Football
- Preseason games
- Playoff games or the Super Bowl
- Digital-only games covered by separate rights
YouTube TV could supply some of those broadcasts through its broader channel lineup, but that was separate from Sunday Ticket itself. Broadcast rights and availability can change by season, so viewers should check the current service details rather than assume that the 2024 arrangement remains unchanged.
What YouTube TV added
The YouTube TV subscription associated with the promotion provided access to the service’s local and national channels. In the 2024 offer’s description, that included locally televised Sunday games, Sunday Night Football, Monday Night Football, preseason coverage, playoff broadcasts and the Super Bowl, subject to the applicable channel and rights arrangements.

YouTube TV also promoted Multiview, which can display up to four live games at once. Availability depends on the device and the content being watched; four-game viewing was not a promise that every device could show every Sunday Ticket stream in that format.

The promotion made the most sense for a fan who genuinely wanted YouTube TV in addition to Sunday Ticket. It was particularly useful for:
- Fans following an out-of-market team
- Viewers who wanted multiple Sunday afternoon games
- Households that also needed local channels and nationally televised games
- People prepared to keep a live-TV subscription through the season
It was a weaker fit for someone who only wanted one local team, already had access to most desired games, wanted only Sunday Night or Monday Night Football, or expected $179 to cover the entire season’s NFL viewing.

Was YouTube TV mandatory?
For the specific $179 promotion, yes: it was offered to eligible new YouTube TV subscribers. However, NFL Sunday Ticket is also available separately through YouTube Primetime Channels, so a viewer does not necessarily need a YouTube TV membership to buy Sunday Ticket in the first place.
The standalone route may be more suitable for cord-cutters who already have another way to watch local broadcasts and nationally televised games. It does not include the full YouTube TV channel lineup.

- Local broadcast plus existing streaming services: Often sufficient for fans who mainly watch their local team and nationally televised games.
- NFL Sunday Ticket through YouTube Primetime Channels: A potential fit for viewers who want out-of-market Sunday afternoon games without YouTube TV’s broader live-channel package.
- NFL RedZone: Better for fantasy players and viewers who prefer touchdown-focused, whip-around coverage rather than every snap of one game.
- Commercial NFL Sunday Ticket: Bars, restaurants and other venues need commercial rights. A residential YouTube subscription is not licensed for commercial use; YouTube identifies EverPass Media as the commercial provider.
Important terms and common mistakes
Do not treat the old headline as a current price
Search engines may continue to show the 2024 promotion. Its presence in search results does not make the offer available for the 2026 season. Check the official NFL Sunday Ticket page and the checkout screen for the current offer.

Local games are not the same as out-of-market games
Sunday Ticket is not a way to bypass local broadcast availability. A game shown locally may not be available through Sunday Ticket in the same way as an out-of-market game.
Review refund and renewal terms
YouTube’s current NFL Sunday Ticket terms describe purchases as nonrefundable and state that some plans may automatically renew for a subsequent season. The original 2024 promotion’s terms should not be assumed to be identical to today’s terms. Anyone subscribing now should review the cancellation, refund and renewal information before completing the purchase.
Residential subscriptions are not for businesses
The consumer service is intended for residential use, not for bars, restaurants or stores. Commercial venues should use a properly licensed commercial service.

The deal was real, but it was a limited 2024 promotion that ended on May 16, 2024. The $179 price applied to Sunday Ticket for eligible new YouTube TV subscribers; it did not include the separate monthly YouTube TV subscription and did not cover every NFL game. For any current offer, rely on the price and terms shown at official YouTube checkout rather than an old headline.
