SaveAFox’s official mission is “To rescue and provide forever homes for captive-born, non-releasable wildlife.” The rescue says animals have arrived from fur farms, pet surrenders, and illegal-ownership situations. The organization explains that captive-born foxes generally cannot be released because of legal and ethical concerns, including their lack of the skills needed to survive in the wild and the risks of introducing animals into ecosystems.
The organization’s team page lists Raines as “Founder / Rescuer” and “Social Media Manager.” Her online videos helped bring the rescue’s foxes to a broad audience, but no independent primary-source subscriber or follower total is used here because the available dossier does not establish a publication-ready figure.

SaveAFox says it had operated since 2017 and had rescued approximately 150 foxes, according to the organization’s official pages accessed in 2026. The approximately 150 figure is SaveAFox’s own self-reported number, not an independently audited count. That public discussion does not prove that online harassment was the sole cause of the death. Suicide is complex, and a responsible account should distinguish between a family member’s explanation, a news report’s summary, and findings established by an official investigation. Readers should also be cautious about reposting accusations, screenshots, or names from social-media discussions that have not been independently verified.
What happened to SaveAFox after Mikayla Raines died?
The available material confirms Raines’s death and her role as SaveAFox’s founder, but it does not establish a definitive post-death leadership plan, operational change, or successor announcement. SaveAFox’s official pages remain the appropriate source for current information about the organization, its animals, its team, and any verified way to support its work.
SaveAFox’s mission and rescue history can be reviewed through its official team page and other organizational pages. A reader should not assume that a donation, membership, sponsorship, merchandise, or other support option carries any affiliate relationship or revenue-sharing arrangement unless the organization and the program explicitly verify it.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. How should Mikayla Raines’s death be discussed?
The most accurate approach is to confirm the public event early, attribute the husband’s statements, and place the story in the context of Raines’s rescue work. Coverage should not include graphic method details, romanticize the death, treat suicide as inevitable, or use the death to promote unrelated products. Coverage should also avoid turning unverified online allegations into fact.
