Use a different phone number whose owner agrees to receive the verification code. Google’s official guidance for “This phone number has been used too many times for verification” recommends that remedy, including a family member’s or friend’s number. Google does not publish the exact limit or say when it resets.
Why YouTube says your phone number has been used too many times
The message means Google has limited how often that number can be used for verification. Google Account Help explains that it limits phone-number use “to protect you from abuse.” The restriction is about the number’s verification use; the public guidance does not give a specific account count or explain exactly what triggered the limit in an individual case.
What to do next
- Use a different number. This is Google’s documented response to the exact error. The number must be able to receive the verification code, and its owner should agree to let you use it.
- Consider a family member’s or friend’s number. Google specifically names these as possible alternatives. Make sure the person can pass the code to you and understands it is being used for account verification.
- Enter the code sent to that number. Follow the verification screen’s instructions. Do not share the code with anyone who contacts you claiming to be Google support.
Will waiting make the number work again?
Google’s help article does not specify a reset period for this error. Waiting a set number of hours or days therefore is not a promised fix, and the available official guidance does not establish that the limit will clear on a schedule.
Community replies sometimes suggest specific quotas or waiting periods, but those claims are not stated in Google’s official help article. Treat them as unconfirmed suggestions, not a published Google rule.

- 【Strong Adsorption】The inspiration of the silicone phone suction case comes from the adhesive force of the octopus. Each suction cup phone mount is 3.15 inches long and 2.17 inches wide, with 24 independent suction cups providing a stronger and more stable suction force, so you don't have to worry about your phone falling during use.
- 【Back of Phone Suction Grip】Remove the adhesive film on the phone suction cup and stick it on the phone case. You can then fix the phone on any smooth surface, which is very convenient. (The phone suction cup cannot be removed and reused after being attached to the phone case. It is recommended to attach it to a regular phone case, not a valuable one.)
- 【Widely Used】Our non-slip silicone phone sticky grip mount attaches to almost any flat phone case and make it compatible with common mobile phones such as iPhone and Android. You can shoot, watch videos or video calls in the kitchen, gym, dance studio, bathroom and other places.
- 【Capture the Wonderful Picture】Whether you are a TikTok creator or just like to share videos and photos, this phone suction cup can help you hands-free capture wonderful videos and photos for sharing with friends.
- 【Note】You can fix the phone suction cup on a smooth surface such as a mirror or glass. If necessary, wipe the suction cup with a damp cloth to obtain stronger suction. Before releasing your hand, make sure the phone is firmly fixed. (Not applicable to rough walls, wooden surfaces, and other uneven surfaces)
Could the number have been used by someone else?
Possibly. Phone numbers can be reassigned, and a Google Account Product Expert has mentioned recycling as a possible explanation in a community discussion. That does not establish what happened to your number, and it is not an official diagnosis of this error. Google’s documented practical step remains using a different number.
Do not confuse this with a different phone-number error
“This phone number has been used too many times for verification” is not the same wording as “This phone number cannot be used for verification.” Google’s help guidance also directs people seeing the latter message to use a different number. Check the exact text on your screen before deciding which issue you have.

- COMPATIBILITY — Works with all devices that have a USB-C port.
- INTEGRATED MICROPHONE — A built-in microphone precisely captures your voice while you’re on the phone, taking a FaceTime call, or summoning Siri — so you’re always heard loud and clear.
What Google has not specified
- The exact number of accounts or verification attempts allowed for one phone number.
- A fixed annual quota or a reset interval for this particular error.
- A case-specific appeal route in the help article covering this message.
For those reasons, avoid relying on claims such as “two accounts per year” as confirmed policy. The official page does not give that figure. It also does not promise that changing devices, repeatedly retrying, buying a SIM, or using a virtual-number service will remove the restriction.
