YouTube Premiere is a scheduled, shared viewing event for one uploaded video—not a way to keep a music channel live around the clock. For continuous prerecorded music, use a cloud playout service or run a local encoder such as OBS on a dedicated computer. The right choice depends on whether you want unattended playback, playlist control, multiple destinations, and a local archive.
Premiere and a continuous stream do different jobs
A Premiere gives a single video a scheduled launch: viewers can visit its watch page beforehand, set reminders, chat, and watch together. YouTube describes the feature this way: “Premieres let you watch a new video with creators and their community in real time.” After the event, the video remains on the channel as a regular upload. A continuous music channel instead needs something to play and send a live broadcast repeatedly or without stopping. That can be a cloud playout service or a computer running streaming software. 2. Upstream: cloud playlists and multiple destinations
Upstream describes 24/7 playlist playout, including audio over video loops, with output to multiple services. That may suit creators who need more than a single YouTube destination. These are claims on the provider’s page; independent reliability testing, current plan prices, destination availability, and plan limits are not established here. 3. OBS on a dedicated computer
OBS is a no-charge, open-source local option. You operate the playback and broadcast on your own machine, which can avoid a cloud playout subscription but makes the computer, software, power, and internet connection part of the stream’s uptime. Maintenance, disconnections, or a machine restart can interrupt playback. This route is best for creators comfortable monitoring and maintaining their own setup. OBS Studio
4. Restream: relay and scheduled-broadcast use cases
Restream can help distribute a produced stream to multiple services and schedule prerecorded broadcasts, but its documentation does not establish it as an unattended unlimited 24/7 playout service. Restream warns that a server may restart for maintenance after a stream has run more than 24 hours and recommends restarting every 24 hours. Its alternatives page describes looping a prerecorded video up to ten times, for up to 40 hours when the video is no longer than four hours. 5. Mixcloud as a destination
Mixcloud lists several software choices for going live, including Restream, XSplit, Streamlabs OBS, Wirecast, vMix, and Lightstream. That list does not establish that Mixcloud supports unattended 24/7 playlist operation. Mixcloud live-streaming help

- Playback location: Can you keep a dedicated local machine and connection running, or do you need cloud operation?
- Programming: Are you broadcasting one recording, or do you need a playlist or visual loop?
- Destinations: Is YouTube enough, or do you need a documented multi-service output?
- Duration and recovery: What happens at service limits, during maintenance, or after YouTube disconnects the broadcast?
- Archive: Do you need your own recording in addition to YouTube’s archive?
- Plan limits: Verify present storage, duration, destination, and pricing terms with the provider. Current pricing across the other services is not established here.
YouTube access, archives, and music rights
Confirm live-stream access first
YouTube’s help page says live streaming requires a verified channel with no live-streaming restriction in the prior 90 days. It also states limits of 10 active streams per channel and three per stream key. These are platform rules that can change, so check the current YouTube live-streaming help before scheduling a long-running channel.
Do not rely on YouTube to archive an all-day stream
YouTube says, “If your live stream is less than 12 hours, YouTube can automatically archive it for you.” A stream longer than 12 hours may not be captured at all. If preserving the broadcast matters, keep a local recording or another independent archive rather than assuming the channel replay will exist. YouTube archive live streams help
Make sure the music is cleared for live use
Streaming software and a stream key do not grant music rights. YouTube’s terms put responsibility on the provider to have the necessary worldwide rights for live content on Google services, including music licensing rights from artists, record labels, publishers, and other royalty participants. Use music you created or have permission and the necessary licenses to broadcast; check the YouTube Terms of Service and the copyright safety checklist.
