If your YouTube live stream is dropping frames on Jio 5G, start with H.264 at 720p30 and a 3 Mbps video bitrate. Check that your measured upload can sustain the full stream bitrate with about 20% headroom, then test from the place and device you will stream. If YouTube still reports insufficient bandwidth, lower the resolution or bitrate and retest. These are YouTube recommendations—not guaranteed Jio 5G performance.
Which bitrate should you try first?
For an H.264 stream, use 720p30 at 3 Mbps as a conservative starting point if your upload is uncertain or variable. If a representative test is stable, you can compare 720p60 at 8 Mbps or 1080p30 at 5 Mbps. YouTube recommends 17 Mbps for 1080p60, which requires considerably more sustained upload capacity. None of these figures predicts what Jio 5G will deliver at your location.

These are YouTube Help recommendations for H.264 video, not Jio-specific presets or minimum guaranteed upload speeds. YouTube lists different recommendations for AV1 and H.265/HEVC, so do not apply the H.264 numbers to another codec without checking YouTube’s current encoder settings and bitrate table.
How to diagnose dropped frames, step by step

Check the encoder output
Confirm the selected codec, resolution, frame rate and bitrate in your streaming software or hardware encoder. For RTMP/RTMPS, YouTube lists H.264, H.265/HEVC and AV1 as supported codecs. YouTube recommends constant bitrate (CBR) and a two-second keyframe interval, not exceeding four seconds. If you are using H.264, match the video bitrate to the relevant row in the table above.

Measure outbound upload, not download
A fast download result does not show that your connection can reliably send a live stream. Measure upload from the actual streaming device and connection. YouTube recommends leaving 20% room above the total stream bitrate. For example, a 3 Mbps video bitrate needs at least 3.75 Mbps of sustained upload to leave that margin, before accounting for any additional stream data or a backup stream. Treat a brief speed-test peak cautiously: it does not establish that the connection will hold the rate throughout a broadcast. See YouTube’s streaming tips.

Run a representative test before going live
Test with audio and movement similar to what you plan to stream; YouTube specifically recommends including both. Use the same location, device and network mode you expect to use for the broadcast. Repeating the test at the intended time is also useful because Jio service can vary with local conditions and network load. A result from a different place or time may not represent the live uplink.

Watch YouTube stream health
Keep the Live Control Room or Live Dashboard open during the test and broadcast. YouTube displays errors alongside the stream-health indicator. If it reports insufficient bandwidth for the selected resolution, lower the resolution and test again. If the health message persists after reducing video settings, inspect the encoder configuration and device load, and check whether the connection is changing network mode or otherwise becoming unstable. These are possible troubleshooting avenues, not a diagnosis of your particular setup.

Change one setting, then retest
When frames drop, reduce resolution or bitrate rather than raising bitrate to try to improve the image. Start at 720p30 and 3 Mbps if you have not established a stable setting. If that works, test the next desired setting under similar conditions. Keep notes on the setting, upload result and stream-health messages so you can return to the last configuration that worked.

Why the 5G icon cannot set your bitrate
Jio advertises True 5G speeds of “up to 1 Gbps,” but that is a provider-stated peak figure, not an expected sustained upload rate for a live stream. Neither the 5G label nor a coverage map tells you the outbound bandwidth available to your encoder at a particular moment.
Jio describes its coverage map as approximate and says coverage cannot be assured at the same level at all times. Signal strength, network changes and load, terrain, buildings, device compatibility, and indoor or multistory conditions can affect service. The useful measurement is your sustained upload at the actual stream location, tested under representative conditions—not a universal Jio speed estimate.
