Yes—YouTube’s documented Live Redirect requirements do not list language as a restriction. An eligible channel can send viewers from its ending horizontal livestream to a permitted, selectable Premiere or another channel’s live stream. The sender must have more than 1,000 subscribers and no Community Guidelines strikes; the destination must allow the sender to redirect to it. YouTube does not document a special rule for Indian-language channels or guarantee that every cross-language pairing will appear in the selection interface.
Does Live Redirect work between channels in different Indian languages?
YouTube’s published requirements focus on the sending channel’s eligibility, the destination channel’s permission settings, whether the destination is available for selection, and the stream format. The reviewed instructions do not require source and destination channels to use the same language. That means a Hindi-language channel and a Tamil-language channel, for example, are not documented as ineligible simply because their languages differ. It is not a guarantee that a particular pair or stream will appear in the redirect picker.
Live Redirect hands viewers to a separate destination livestream or Premiere when the source stream ends. It does not, on the basis of YouTube’s documented description, translate the destination, combine the channels’ audiences, carry over the source chat, or promise a recommendation or discovery outcome.
Who can send a redirect, and who can receive one?
Sending channel eligibility
YouTube’s current Help instructions require the channel sending a redirect to have more than 1,000 subscribers and no Community Guidelines strikes. A channel that does not meet either condition cannot send a redirect under the documented eligibility rules. Check the channel’s own YouTube Studio, since feature access and interface details can change.

Receiving channel eligibility and permission
A destination channel can receive redirects regardless of its size, according to YouTube’s TeamYouTube announcement. But the destination controls which channels may send them. Its owner can allow channels it subscribes to, all channels, or only channels specifically approved. For the subscriptions option, those subscriptions must be public. The manual allowlist supports up to 100 channels.
How to enable and set up a cross-channel redirect
- Check the sender. Confirm it has more than 1,000 subscribers and no Community Guidelines strikes.
- Ask the destination owner to check permissions. In YouTube Studio, open Settings → Community → channel redirect permissions. The owner can choose subscribed channels, all channels, or a manually approved list. If using the subscription setting, subscriptions must be public.
- Confirm the destination is eligible to appear. It must be an active or upcoming livestream, or an upcoming Premiere, and meet the destination channel’s permission rules.
- Configure the source stream. In YouTube Studio, open Content → Live, edit the source video, then open Customization → Redirect → Add. Choose a Premiere or search for another channel’s live stream.
- End the source stream normally. YouTube moves viewers to the selected destination after the source ends; this is an end-of-stream handoff, not a forced midstream transfer.
Format and viewer-experience limitations
Horizontal versus vertical livestreams
YouTube’s current live-feature comparison lists Live Redirect as available for horizontal livestreams and unavailable for vertical live feeds. If the source is vertical, plan a different handoff rather than relying on this feature.

Autoplay and the transition pause
Autoplay affects what viewers experience after the source ends. TeamYouTube’s May 3, 2022 announcement says viewers with autoplay disabled must click Play. YouTube’s settings guidance suggests allowing about two seconds for a Premiere to reload; that is a suggested pause, not a guaranteed transition time.
Why the other channel’s stream may not appear
- The sender is not eligible: verify the more-than-1,000-subscriber threshold and absence of Community Guidelines strikes.
- The destination has not permitted the sender: ask its owner to review redirect permissions and, if applicable, add the sender to the allowlist.
- The destination is not selectable yet: check that it is active or upcoming, or is an upcoming Premiere, and that its permission settings allow the sender.
- The source is vertical: Live Redirect is marked unavailable for vertical live feeds in YouTube’s current feature comparison.
- The interface or access differs: verify the channel’s own YouTube Studio settings; YouTube’s documentation and labels may change.
What Live Redirect does not establish
YouTube’s published instructions do not establish that the redirect translates chat, transfers moderators or memberships, preserves the original stream’s chat, or guarantees audience retention or discovery. No redirect-specific adoption, success-rate, or audience-retention statistic is stated in the reviewed official sources. Treat it as a way to hand viewers to a selected YouTube destination at the end of a stream, not as a promise about how many viewers will follow.

Or let it run in the cloud
Live Redirect handles a handoff between YouTube destinations; it is not a way to keep a prerecorded stream running continuously. For an always-on YouTube stream made from uploaded video, StreamNeo is a separate option: upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. StreamNeo loops the uploaded material from the cloud, so nothing has to stay on at home. It streams the upload as made, up to 4K 60fps, at one price per slot; it can automatically recover if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card, one free day per account. Monthly access is $9.99 per month. Start your free day with StreamNeo.
