For a 24/7 prerecorded Tamil playlist, choose YouTube Live bitrate by the stream’s codec, resolution and frame rate—not by the language or the fact that it is broadcast from India. A practical starting point is 1080p30 H.264 at YouTube’s recommended 14 Mbps, or 720p30 H.264 at 8 Mbps if your tested upload connection cannot reliably sustain the higher rate. Use CBR and a two-second keyframe interval, then monitor stream health during a realistic test.
Recommended bitrate settings
YouTube says its recommended bitrate ranges depend on the video ingestion codec, resolution and frame rate. The figures below are YouTube’s published encoder recommendations, not a guarantee that a particular internet connection can sustain them.

For mostly static playlist visuals, evaluate 30 fps first. Choose 1080p30 or 720p30 based on the detail viewers need and whether your encoder and connection can maintain the selected settings. Higher frame rates can suit motion that benefits from smoother movement, but they are not inherently better for Tamil content. YouTube supports H.264, H.265 (HEVC) and AV1 ingestion, with frame rates up to 60 fps; use a codec your encoder supports reliably. See YouTube’s encoder settings and bitrate recommendations.
Set the encoder for a continuous stream
Video encoding
- Rate control: Constant bitrate (CBR).
- Keyframes: Set the interval to two seconds. YouTube says not to exceed four seconds.
- Codec and frame rate: Select a supported codec and a frame rate that matches your chosen row in the table.
- Transport: YouTube recommends RTMPS.
Audio encoding
For stereo audio, YouTube lists AAC or MP3 and recommends 128 Kbps. Include the audio bitrate when checking whether your total stream bitrate fits your upload capacity.

Check upload capacity from your location in India
There is no India-specific bitrate recommendation in YouTube’s cited guidance. Your ISP’s actual upload performance and stability at the streaming location—not the country or the playlist language—determine whether the stream can hold a target rate.
- Choose a candidate setting. Start with the table row matching the codec, resolution and frame rate you intend to send.
- Test under representative conditions. Run the encoder with representative audio and moving video, not only a still image. Check that the connection sustains the stream bitrate consistently.
- Leave practical headroom. The stream’s total bitrate must fit within available upload bandwidth. If the connection fluctuates or the stream health degrades, reduce the bitrate or resolution and test again.
- Monitor while live. Watch YouTube’s stream health and respond to instability rather than assuming a single speed test predicts uninterrupted 24/7 performance. YouTube’s streaming tips cover connection testing and stream stability.
A wired Ethernet connection can be a useful choice for a fixed streaming computer, but it does not create upload capacity or guarantee stability; test the actual connection you will use.

Plan for archives and restarts
YouTube says streams shorter than 12 hours can be automatically archived, while streams exceeding 12 hours may not be captured at all. If a complete record matters, do not rely on one uninterrupted 24-hour broadcast being archived: plan a local recording backup and decide how the channel will handle stream restarts. Confirm rights before looping a Tamil playlist
Before broadcasting, confirm that you have the necessary rights to every video and audio element, including music. YouTube scans live streams for third-party content; identified material that remains in the stream may cause it to be interrupted or terminated. Review YouTube’s livestream terms and copyright guidance, and check rights track by track rather than assuming that a playlist is cleared because it is prerecorded.
