Yes—but the headline refers to a limited offer announced on September 7, 2023, not a guaranteed free trial for the 2026 season. YouTube said eligible new Sunday Ticket customers could try the package for seven days. The offer excluded several groups, including former subscribers and customers paying in monthly installments. Current YouTube materials do not establish that the 2023 trial is still available.
What changed in September 2023?
Before YouTube’s first season carrying NFL Sunday Ticket, the package was presented as a costly purchase with limited refund options. On September 7, 2023, Google confirmed a one-time, seven-day trial for some new customers. The reversal was real, but it was a launch-period offer—not a promise of a permanent trial. The announcement and its terms were reported at the time.
Who qualified for the seven-day trial?
The 2023 offer was for new Sunday Ticket customers buying directly through YouTube or YouTube TV. It applied whether they bought Sunday Ticket alone or bundled it with NFL RedZone. These customers were excluded:

- People buying through a mobile carrier or internet provider, such as Frontier, Verizon or WOW!.
- Customers choosing a monthly-payment plan.
- Customers buying a Student Plan.
That means a YouTube TV trial did not automatically make someone eligible for a Sunday Ticket trial. They were separate offers with separate terms.

What does Sunday Ticket actually show?
Sunday Ticket is for out-of-market Sunday-afternoon regular-season games that are not shown on a viewer’s local broadcast or as a national broadcast. It is not a complete NFL package. It does not, by itself, replace local Sunday broadcasts or coverage of Sunday night, Monday night, Thursday night, preseason and postseason games. Those games follow separate distribution arrangements. YouTube’s coverage guide explains what Sunday Ticket includes and excludes.
The package is intended for U.S. residential viewing, subject to territory and broadcast restrictions. A household subscription is not a commercial license for a bar, restaurant or other business.

Where was the 2023 trial offered?
The offer was expected to appear through the NFL Channel on YouTube and in the Membership section of a YouTube TV account. Those are historical directions, not guaranteed current menu labels: YouTube’s interface and checkout offers can change.

Was the trial risk-free?
Not entirely. Customers had to provide payment details and cancel before the seven-day period ended to avoid the applicable charge. Missing the deadline could mean paying for the package, and Sunday Ticket purchases were generally non-refundable. Check the charge date, renewal terms and cancellation status shown in your own account rather than assuming a missed deadline can be reversed.

Current YouTube TV help distinguishes a season pass, installment payments and a month-to-month option that may become available closer to the season. Paying for a season pass in installments is not the same as buying month-to-month access. The help page says season passes are not cancellable for a refund, although automatic renewal can be turned off for future seasons. Does the free trial still exist in 2026?
Do not assume so. Current 2026 purchase information describes season passes and other payment options, but does not establish the 2023 seven-day trial as a standing offer. A separate current YouTube TV promotion may advertise a $0 introductory period or reduced introductory price for the base live-TV plan. That does not mean Sunday Ticket is free: it is a separate paid add-on, and the YouTube TV route requires an active YouTube TV plan. YouTube TV’s trial information concerns the base service, not an automatic Sunday Ticket trial.

There are also season-specific discounts. For example, a current offer for eligible military members, veterans, first responders, medical workers and teachers lists Sunday Ticket at $198, but explicitly says there is no free trial and the purchase is non-refundable. Before paying, confirm the offer in the checkout flow for your account and purchase route. If a trial does not appear, possible reasons include prior Sunday Ticket history, a Student Plan, a provider purchase, an installment plan or simply that the promotion is no longer active. Prices can also vary by route and promotion; the 2023 launch prices—$349 for YouTube TV subscribers and $449 through YouTube Primetime Channels—are historical, not current quotes.

Choosing a purchase route
- YouTube TV add-on: A fit if you already want a live-TV service, including its local and national channels. It requires an active YouTube TV plan, so account for that base-plan cost as well as Sunday Ticket.
- Standalone YouTube Primetime Channel: A way to buy Sunday Ticket without a YouTube TV base plan, but it still covers only the eligible out-of-market Sunday-afternoon games. Prices and features may differ by platform; YouTube warns that iOS pricing may vary.
- NFL RedZone: An optional bundle or add-on for viewers who want a league-wide, multi-game Sunday channel. It should not be assumed to come with Sunday Ticket by default.
If you follow a team whose games are usually available on local television, Sunday Ticket may add less value than it does for an out-of-market fan. If you want every NFL game, check the separate services and broadcast arrangements you need before subscribing.
