Quick wins for a faster PC:
Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →A freeze when a YouTube playlist returns to a large video does not, on its own, show that the file is too large or that YouTube is at fault. Find where the picture first stops: the source or local player, the encoder preview or archive, or YouTube playback. That comparison helps separate a media-playback problem from resource pressure, encoder trouble, or a problem delivering the stream. Test through a complete playlist repeat before relying on the stream.
Identify where the freeze begins
At the next freeze, note the time and compare three views: playback of the file locally, the encoder output and local archive, and the YouTube stream. Check YouTube Live Control Room’s stream health indicator and timestamped error messages. YouTube recommends monitoring stream quality and checking that the local archive is intact. YouTube: stream health and live-streaming guidance · YouTube: live-stream errors
- The local file also freezes or fails to restart: investigate the file, local playback, or the media source.
- The local file plays, but the encoder preview or archive freezes: look at the source configuration and system workload.
- The encoder output and archive remain healthy, but YouTube playback freezes: check encoder errors, stream health, and the outbound connection to YouTube.
The archive is useful evidence, not a complete diagnosis on its own. Check whether it is still growing and whether it contains the same freeze at the repeat boundary.
Check the playlist source and loop behavior
First establish how the repeating video is loaded into OBS. Its Media Source and VLC Video sources have different loop controls, so a setting that applies to one should not be assumed to apply to the other. OBS documents a per-file Loop option for Media Source and a Loop Playlist option for VLC Video. VLC Video requires VLC to be installed. OBS: Media Sources

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
- Confirm that the file plays through its end in a local player and starts again as expected.
- In OBS, identify whether the item is a Media Source or part of a VLC Video playlist.
- Check the loop setting for that source type and confirm the playlist contains the intended files in the intended order.
- Test the boundary while watching the local preview and archive. If the source stops there, focus on local playback or source behavior before changing YouTube settings.
Test whether media workload contributes
High-resolution media and complex OBS scenes can demand more system resources. OBS recommends reducing workload or using lower-resolution media when performance is a problem; this makes a lower-resolution copy a useful diagnostic test, not proof that every large file causes freezes. OBS: Encoding Performance Troubleshooting
- Keep the original settings available so you can revert changes.
- Simplify the scene or test a lower-resolution copy of the problem file.
- Change one variable at a time and observe whether the freeze still occurs at the same repeat boundary.
- If practical, compare the Media Source hardware-decoding option in its current and opposite states. OBS documents the option but does not present either state as a universal fix. OBS: Media Sources
If simplifying the scene changes the result, workload is a useful lead. If the freeze follows one file or occurs only at the transition, keep investigating that file and its source behavior rather than treating file size alone as the answer.

If the encoder output is healthy, check delivery to YouTube
When the local preview and archive stay healthy while YouTube playback freezes, inspect encoder errors and CPU load, then test the outbound internet connection. YouTube identifies outbound connectivity as a possible cause when encoder output appears healthy. YouTube: troubleshoot live-streaming issues
Review the YouTube Live Control Room health messages at the failure time and distinguish an encoder-side error from an ingest or delivery issue. Avoid changing several encoder settings at once: doing so can obscure which change affected the stream.

Verify encoder settings and test across a full repeat
YouTube’s RTMP/RTMPS guidance recommends a two-second keyframe interval and says not to exceed four seconds. Its bitrate recommendations vary by codec, resolution, and frame rate, so choose the applicable recommendation for your configuration and confirm that the connection can sustain it. YouTube: encoder settings for live streaming
Use a private or unlisted test stream, and let it run long enough to cross at least one complete playlist repeat. Watch the source and encoder preview at the boundary, check the local archive afterward, and compare the same time with YouTube’s health information and playback. A test that ends before the large file returns cannot rule out a repeat-boundary fault.
