Yes. Lance Barber, who plays George Cooper, appeared in disguise as Georgina among the mourners at George’s funeral in the Young Sheldon finale. Co-star Raegan Revord revealed the cameo after the episode aired. Barber was playing a different funeral attendee—not George, a ghost, or a return to his usual role.
Was Lance Barber at George’s funeral in Young Sheldon?
He was. Barber attended the on-screen funeral as Georgina, an older woman in the crowd. The disguise makes the cameo easy to miss: she appears in the background during a wide shot of the mourners, rather than in a featured scene.
Revord, who plays Missy Cooper, disclosed after the episode aired that Barber had dressed as Georgina to attend his character’s funeral. The detail was reported by ClutchPoints on May 20, 2024, and later described by SlashFilm on November 23, 2024. The reports differ on which social platform carried Revord’s reveal, so the reliable point is that she revealed it after the episode.
Who played Georgina in the finale?
Lance Barber played Georgina. Barber’s regular role on the series was George Cooper, Sheldon’s father. For the funeral scene, he took on the disguise of an attendee instead. SlashFilm describes Georgina as an older woman with gray hair, glasses, and a purple cardigan, visible in the background.

Where is the cameo?
Look among the mourners in the wide shot at George’s funeral in the episode titled “Funeral.” Georgina is a background figure, not the focus of the scene. The published reports do not establish a verified timecode, so a precise timestamp cannot be given.
When did the finale air, and which cast returns were announced?
The two-part series finale aired May 16, 2024. A CBS announcement dated March 6, 2024, said Jim Parsons and Mayim Bialik would reprise Sheldon and Amy, and named Paramount+ as a streaming option at the time. That announced return is separate from Barber’s unannounced Georgina disguise. TVLine’s May 15, 2024 finale preview described the first half as taking place almost entirely at the funeral.
