The dates matter: the 2025 trailer is not the release trailer, and neither should be confused with the film’s 2024 festival premiere or its later theatrical date.

Ram wrote and directed this Tamil feature, starring Nivin Pauly, Anjali and Soori. The release-trailer credits name Suresh Kamatchi as producer under V House Productions, Yuvan Shankar Raja as music composer, and Santhosh Dhayanidhi for additional music. They also credit N K Ekhambram as cinematographer, Mathi VS as editor, Umesh J Kumar as production designer and Stunt Silva as action choreographer.

According to Cinema Express’s account of the release trailer, an 8,000-year-old immortal meets a traveler on a train, and the encounter leads to chaos involving a rat; the immortal’s past is also brought into the story. That is a trailer setup, not a complete plot synopsis. In a July 2026 report, The Indian Express described the teaser’s figures as “a mother rat, a good man, an immortal man, and a mystical woman.”
What does the train premise have to do with the film’s festival history?
The Indian Express reported that the film had its world premiere at the 53rd International Film Festival Rotterdam in 2024. Its report reproduced the festival logline: “Set on a moving train on a rain-soaked night, a chance encounter between a 32-year-old everyman and an 8,000-year-old immortal — and a rat! — triggers a series of events that will intertwine their destinies.”
The festival description and the later trailer accounts both point to a train encounter at the story’s center, but they are short promotional descriptions rather than a full account of the film’s events.
When did Yezhu Kadal Yezhu Malai release?
Cinema Express reported October 1, 2026 as the theatrical release date, and BookMyShow’s listing gives the same date. The earlier Tamil Film Active Producers Association trade guide placed the film among expected May–July 2026 releases, but explicitly described that schedule as tentative and subject to change; it should not be treated as the final date.

BookMyShow lists the film as a 2h 17m Tamil drama/fantasy with a UA16+ rating. As of October 8, 2026, its listing showed “In cinemas” and a ticket-booking option. Those listings do not establish whether a screening is available in a particular city now, so check the location-specific showtimes before making plans.
