Spoilers for “Did Tai Do That?” Taissa draws the card that assigns her to execute Coach Ben after the wilderness group blames him for the cabin fire. Akilah’s vision interrupts the attempt, but Ben’s reprieve is no real freedom: Shauna later has Melissa cut his remaining Achilles tendon so he cannot escape. In the present-day story, Misty investigates Lottie’s suspicious death, though the episode’s official synopsis does not identify who caused it.
Episode title and release dates
“Did Tai Do That?” is Season 3, Episode 5 of Yellowjackets. Paramount+ lists the episode on March 9, 2025, while Google Play lists it on March 7, 2025; those are platform listing dates, not a single date that should be attributed to every service. Paramount+’s Season 3 listing gives the title and frames the wilderness dilemma as having to “pull an Old Yeller.” Google Play’s Season 3 page also lists the episode and offers it as a digital purchase; availability can vary by region.
Why does Taissa pull the short straw?
The group believes Coach Ben is responsible for the cabin fire and turns to an execution rather than a trial or a search for another explanation. Nat proposes a firing squad, and a card draw assigns the act. Taissa draws the card that makes her the one expected to shoot Ben. This sequence is described in secondary episode recaps from GamesRadar+ and Nerdist.
Van tries to call on the dissociated version of Taissa, but Taissa remains unable to carry out the shooting. The moment is not a clean act of refusal or an easy escape: the others have already decided Ben should die, and the draw has made Taissa the instrument of that decision.

How Akilah’s vision stops the execution
Lottie takes Akilah and Travis to the cave for a hallucinogenic vision. Akilah reports seeing Ben as a giant spanning a ravine, like a bridge. Lottie interprets that image as a sign that Ben has a purpose and must live. As Taissa is about to shoot, Travis intervenes, and the execution is stopped, according to the recaps.
The group’s decision changes, but its treatment of Ben does not become merciful. Later, Shauna recruits Melissa to cut Ben’s remaining Achilles tendon, leaving him unable to escape. The episode thus sets a reprieve against continued captivity and deliberate injury: Ben is spared from the immediate execution, but not given agency or safety.

What happens in the present-day Lottie investigation?
The official Paramount+ description says Misty investigates a suspicious death. A recap from ComicBook.com identifies the death as Lottie’s and describes Misty, Shauna, and Walter becoming involved in the investigation. That establishes the episode’s investigative thread, not the identity of a killer: the official synopsis leaves the cause and responsibility unresolved.
What “twisted justice” means in this episode
“Twisted justice” is a reading of the episode’s events, not a verdict the story settles. Ben is blamed and assigned an execution without a process that establishes his responsibility for the fire. A vision halts the killing, but the outcome is continued control over his body and movement. The contrast is what gives the episode’s apparent reprieve its cruelty: the group exchanges a planned death for a life in captivity, while Shauna ensures Ben cannot flee.

Does the episode answer “Did Tai do that?”
The title invites questions about Taissa and her dissociated self, but the execution scene has a clear immediate outcome: Taissa draws the card and cannot shoot Ben; Travis stops the attempt. Viewer discussion also includes questions such as whether Tai killed Biscuit, but fan comments are speculation and reaction, not confirmation of what happened in the episode. The episode’s official synopsis does not resolve that question.
