Short answer: Xbox Game Pass Ultimate really did include a 75-day Crunchyroll Premium Mega Fan trial, but the documented promotion is not current. Xbox’s 2023 offer had to be claimed by October 20, 2023 and redeemed by October 27, 2023. Do not subscribe to Game Pass expecting this old Perk to appear.
What the Xbox promotion actually was
Xbox announced the Crunchyroll trial twice: first on November 9, 2021, and again during Anime Month on July 20, 2023. Both were limited-time Perks for Xbox Game Pass Ultimate members, not a permanent part of the subscription.
The later promotion offered 75 days of Crunchyroll Premium Mega Fan. That meant a subscription trial—not simply 75 days of unrestricted, permanently bundled anime access. Xbox’s announcement described Mega Fan benefits including ad-free viewing, same-day simulcasts after Japanese broadcasts, offline viewing, music videos and concerts, and access to Crunchyroll’s Game Vault. Availability of particular shows, movies, subtitles, dubs and simulcasts still depends on territory and licensing.

Is it still available?
The published 2023 deadlines have passed:

The 2021 version also expired in early 2022. The current Xbox Game Pass page lists ongoing Ultimate benefits such as games, day-one releases, EA Play, Fortnite Crew, Ubisoft+ Classics, cloud gaming, multiplayer and rewards; it does not establish Crunchyroll as a standing entitlement. No active 2026 Crunchyroll offer is established by the official announcements cited here.
A Perk shown in your own account would be the only reliable evidence of a newly issued promotion. Check its displayed expiration date and terms rather than relying on an old article or social-media post.

Who qualified for the 2023 trial?
- An active Game Pass Ultimate subscription was required. Ordinary Game Pass plans were not enough.
- The Crunchyroll account generally had to be a new or returning Mega Fan subscriber.
- The terms excluded people who had used a qualifying Crunchyroll trial during the preceding year.
- There was a limit of one offer per account.
- Availability varied by market; the published terms listed exclusions including Russia, Cuba, China, Iran, Japan and Sudan.
These restrictions mean that “Game Pass members” was too broad a description. Eligibility depended on the plan, account history and region.

The historical process was:
- Open the Perks gallery on an Xbox console, in the Xbox app for Windows PC, or in the Xbox Game Pass mobile app.
- Select the Crunchyroll Premium/Mega Fan Perk and claim it.
- Follow the supplied link to Crunchyroll.
- Sign in or create the eligible Crunchyroll account and activate the trial.
- Review the billing and renewal terms before confirming.
Those steps describe the former promotion, not a guarantee that the Perk can still be claimed. If it is missing now, the most likely explanation is that the promotion expired. Other possibilities include a non-Ultimate plan, an excluded region, previous trial use, or being signed into the wrong Microsoft or Crunchyroll account.

“Free” did not mean “no billing risk”
Xbox promoted the period as a free trial, but Crunchyroll warned that Mega Fan would automatically renew unless canceled. Activation could require a payment method, and a provider might place a temporary authorization or verification charge. After 75 days, the subscription could become paid, with the amount depending on the country, currency and plan shown at checkout.
Anyone activating a future Perk should record the end date, check where billing is managed, and cancel before renewal if they do not want to continue. The cancellation route may be Crunchyroll, Microsoft, Apple, Google or another billing platform, depending on how the subscription was started. Do not assume that installing the Crunchyroll app creates Premium access or that Xbox automatically manages every subscription.

- Your Crunchyroll account has not used a disqualifying trial.
- The claim and redemption deadlines are still open.
- The trial starts when you expect—claiming and activating may be separate events.
- The post-trial price, taxes and renewal frequency are shown at checkout.
- Your desired anime, dubs and devices are supported in your region.
For current subscription information, use the official Xbox Game Pass page and Crunchyroll Premium page. If anime is your main reason for subscribing, buying Crunchyroll directly is the more straightforward choice. Game Pass Ultimate makes sense for its gaming benefits, with entertainment Perks treated as occasional extras—not as a reason to purchase an expired promotion.

The Bottom Line
Bottom line: The 75-day Crunchyroll Mega Fan trial was a legitimate, limited-time Game Pass Ultimate Perk, but the documented offer expired in October 2023. Treat any claim that members can “now” get 75 free days as outdated unless the offer is visibly listed, with current terms, in your own Xbox Perks gallery.
