Naomi’s 2025 rise to the Women’s World Championship gives new force to the belief that she had the presence and ability to become a defining WWE star. That is an assessment, not a claim that every fan or critic overlooked her; what the record shows is a career of reinvention, meaningful milestones and a dramatic championship breakthrough.
What makes Naomi’s 2025 title win feel like a turning point?
The story of Naomi’s championship year is not a straight climb. At WrestleMania 41 on April 19, 2025, Jade Cargill defeated her, with WWE’s recap presenting Cargill’s power as decisive. Less than two months later, Naomi won the Women’s Money in the Bank Ladder Match, then turned that opportunity into the Women’s World Championship at Evolution.
At Evolution on July 13, Naomi cashed in during the Women’s World Championship Triple Threat Match involving champion IYO SKY and Rhea Ripley. WWE reports that Naomi used the briefcase, pinned SKY after her Split-Legged Moonsault and won the title. The sequence—from a WrestleMania loss to a contract victory and then a successful cash-in—makes for a clear, high-stakes narrative. It demonstrates how WWE positioned her in those matches; it does not, by itself, prove a particular level of audience consensus or critical acclaim.
How Naomi built a career beyond one character
WWE’s official profile traces Naomi’s path from performing as a dancer for the Orlando Magic and with artists including Flo Rida to WWE NXT and the Funkadactyls. It describes her later evolution into solo runs as both a fan favorite and a villain, as well as her leadership of Team B.A.D. alongside Tamina and Sasha Banks. That career arc matters because the case for Naomi as a star rests not only on a recent result, but also on her ability to occupy different roles and remain a distinct presence.

Her championship record includes two SmackDown Women’s Championship reigns, the first-ever Women’s Battle Royal victory at WrestleMania 34, and the Women’s Tag Team Championship with Sasha Banks at WrestleMania 38. Those milestones show that the 2025 Women’s World Championship was a major new peak, not her first significant WWE accomplishment.
What the Money in the Bank win changed
On June 7, 2025, Naomi won the Women’s Money in the Bank Ladder Match against Rhea Ripley, Roxanne Perez, Alexa Bliss, Giulia and Stephanie Vaquer. Winning the briefcase gave her a route to a title match on her own timing; the cash-in at Evolution made that route the engine of her championship moment.

That structure also gives the win a particular character. Naomi did not simply defeat the champion in a scheduled singles match: she seized an opening in a Triple Threat and converted the briefcase into a title victory. The result is a sharp contrast with the WrestleMania loss to Cargill, and it puts timing and opportunism alongside athletic execution in the story of her rise.

The championship record and major-match results support calling Naomi an accomplished performer whose 2025 title win was a consequential career milestone. WWE’s profile also supplies a company-authored account of her character changes and career highlights. They do not establish independent measures of popularity, merchandise sales, viewership or broad critical opinion, and they do not show that Naomi was universally overlooked before this run.

So “finally the star I always knew she could be” works best as a personal thesis: the 2025 run makes a long-held belief feel newly vindicated. The documented achievements give that view substance, while leaving room for the distinction between a compelling career case and an unmeasured claim about what the entire audience thinks.
