Wowza’s documented 24×7 model charges a flat subscription per stream, plus separate bandwidth and egress fees billed by the gigabyte. The current 24×7 rate card is not available in the public material reviewed here, so there is no reliable universal monthly total to quote. You need the rate schedule for your account and region, along with your stream configuration and traffic estimate.
“Wowza Streaming Cloud” is a legacy product name. Current public product pages feature Wowza Flowplayer OVP and Wowza Streaming Engine, while the relevant 24×7 workflow and cost guidance appears in Wowza Video documentation marked legacy. Confirm which product and billing model your account uses before estimating costs. Wowza’s 24×7 cost guidance describes the flat-fee-plus-usage model.
How Wowza’s 24×7 pricing works
Wowza describes 24×7 subscriptions as a flat fee per stream, with bandwidth and egress charged separately per gigabyte. It also says the per-gigabyte cost decreases as usage increases. Those components mean the subscription alone is not the full cost, and a larger-volume rate does not establish a universal price for every channel.
- Per-stream subscription: the recurring fee for a 24×7 channel, according to the rate schedule applicable to the account.
- Bandwidth and egress: additional usage charges based on gigabytes. Which traffic is counted in each category depends on the source, target, and delivery configuration.
- Possible infrastructure charges: if you use Wowza Streaming Engine on a public cloud, the cloud provider may separately bill compute, storage, and bandwidth.
Ask Wowza for the current schedule applicable to your product, account, and region. The public guidance linked above does not establish the current 24×7 subscription or per-GB rates, so quoting a monthly dollar total without them would be misleading.

What to collect before estimating your bill
Request or locate the current rate schedule, then gather the inputs below. For a continuous stream, a normal non-leap year has 8,760 operating hours; that is calendar context, not a reason to multiply an event-hour tariff by 8,760.
- Number of 24×7 channels and the applicable fee per channel.
- Broadcast region and the account-specific bandwidth and egress rates.
- Whether you use passthrough or adaptive-bitrate transcoding.
- Average delivered bitrate and active hours.
- Expected audience and viewing hours if Wowza is delivering the stream to viewers.
- Which source-to-target traffic Wowza counts as bandwidth versus egress.
- Any separate public-cloud infrastructure charges if using Wowza Streaming Engine.
Estimate data volume from bitrate
For a rough network-volume illustration in decimal gigabytes, use:
GB ≈ average bitrate in Mbps × active seconds ÷ 8,000

This is arithmetic for estimating transferred data, not a Wowza quote. Actual billable volume can differ because of rendition mix, protocol overhead, source and target traffic accounting, and provider definitions. Use your actual average bitrate and the period you expect to stream; do not assume a bitrate or audience size.

Passthrough versus adaptive bitrate
Configuration can change both processing needs and traffic. In passthrough, Wowza sends the source directly without transcoding; this generally uses fewer bits than creating multiple output renditions. Adaptive bitrate transcoding creates renditions for different devices and network conditions, and can add processing and bandwidth.
Wowza cautions that the lower-cost choice depends on the workflow. Compare the bitrate and delivery requirements of the actual source and output rather than assuming either mode will always cost less.

24×7 operating limits and YouTube setup
Wowza’s live-stream setup documentation says 24×7 streams continue until stopped manually or by a schedule. They do not automatically stop after 20 minutes idle, cannot be recorded, do not support 4K, and have a billing mode that cannot be changed after creation. Review those constraints before creating the channel: the billing-mode choice is not a setting to treat as easily reversible. See Wowza’s live stream setup documentation.
A historical Wowza Streaming Cloud overview documented custom RTMP stream targets, including YouTube. That establishes that the workflow was documented at the time, not that current account screens, labels, or YouTube ingest requirements are unchanged. Confirm present-day compatibility and setup in the documentation and account you will use before configuring the destination. Wowza’s historical overview.

Do not confuse Wowza Video charges with Streaming Engine pricing
Wowza Video’s 24×7 subscription model is different from Wowza Streaming Engine. Wowza’s current Streaming Engine pricing page lists Basic Monthly at $195 per month and One Month of Streaming at $295 as a one-time purchase. Those are Streaming Engine license prices, not the 24×7 Wowza Video subscription or its bandwidth and egress rates. A cloud-hosted Engine deployment can also carry separate provider charges. Check Wowza’s current product pricing page and identify the product named on your quote before comparing totals.

When a cloud loop may be simpler
If your goal is to keep an uploaded recording or playlist live on YouTube around the clock, rather than manage a Wowza source and its associated traffic accounting, StreamNeo is an alternative built for that workflow. Upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live; the cloud loops it without requiring a computer, OBS, or home connection to stay on.
Each slot includes one always-on YouTube stream, 10 GB of storage per slot pooled across active slots, looping and playlists, automatic recovery if YouTube drops the stream, and StreamNeo team support. Uploaded video streams as made, up to 4K 60fps, with no re-encode and no quality tiers. It plays uploaded video; it does not broadcast from a camera.
