Wirecast desktop is offered as a fully functional trial with no time limit and no credit card required; Telestream’s public product pages do not state whether the trial adds a watermark. Telestream lists Wirecast Studio at $599 and Wirecast Pro at $799. Both editions list YouTube as a built-in destination, so the documented reason to pay for Pro is its additional production features—not a stated YouTube streaming unlock. YouTube’s account eligibility and stream limits apply whichever Wirecast option you use.
Is Wirecast free for YouTube streaming?
Telestream describes the Wirecast desktop trial as a “fully functional trial with no time limit and no credit card required.” That makes it possible to try desktop Wirecast without a stated trial deadline, but Telestream’s public product material does not establish whether the trial places a watermark on output or enumerate every trial-specific restriction. Check Telestream’s current terms or ask its support team if watermark-free output is essential before you rely on the trial for a broadcast. Telestream’s Wirecast product page has the trial description.
The desktop trial is not a separate free desktop edition with a published feature matrix. Wirecast Go, by contrast, is a separate iPhone app with its own free and paid feature sets.
Wirecast Studio vs. Pro: what changes?
Telestream’s comparison lists both paid desktop editions with YouTube among their built-in streaming destinations and with unlimited destinations. It does not document a tier-specific YouTube output restriction. The meaningful distinction is the production toolkit, including how many simultaneous remote guests you can bring in.

When Studio may be enough
Studio is the lower-priced paid desktop tier if its production features fit your show and two simultaneous Rendezvous guests are sufficient. The documented comparison does not indicate that choosing Studio removes YouTube as a destination.

When Pro may be worth considering
Consider Pro if your production needs the listed seven simultaneous Rendezvous guests, instant replay, virtual sets, or other Pro-only audio and production capabilities. It costs more, but the comparison does not present that premium as buying a separate YouTube streaming capability.
Wirecast Go is a different product
Telestream describes Wirecast Go as an iPhone app. Its listed free version can stream directly to YouTube, use one camera, add images, logos and graphics, switch between two shots, and stream without a duration limit. Telestream also lists a $5.99 in-app upgrade for streaming to any RTMP destination, replay highlights, unlimited shots, and private or unlisted YouTube broadcasts. These are the features and price stated on Telestream’s Wirecast Go page; the page’s device and iOS details may not reflect the current app listing, so verify them in the App Store before installing. YouTube eligibility still applies. See Telestream’s Wirecast Go page.

YouTube requirements and stream limits apply to every edition
A Wirecast license does not make an ineligible YouTube channel eligible. YouTube says a channel must be verified and have had no live-stream restriction in the previous 90 days; its current getting-started guidance also says streamers must be at least 16. Review YouTube’s live-streaming tips and getting-started guidance for current account requirements.
YouTube’s getting-started page lists a maximum of 10 active streams per channel and three active streams per stream key. Both limits apply at the same time: staying under the channel ceiling does not allow a key to exceed its own ceiling.

Prepare an encoder stream before the event
YouTube recommends planning ahead for encoder broadcasts rather than going live at the scheduled start and hoping the output is ready. Follow its current guidance in YouTube live streaming tips:
- Set up the encoder stream at least two hours before the event.
- Start the encoder at least 15 minutes before the scheduled start.
- Check the Live Control Room preview before starting the public broadcast.
- Test failover if it is relevant to your setup, confirm that archive files are being created, and monitor audio and video quality during the stream.
Choose based on the job, not the word “free”
- Trying desktop production before committing: the no-time-limit trial is useful, but settle the watermark question with Telestream if it affects your decision.
- Running a conventional YouTube production: compare Studio and Pro against the guests and production tools your show actually needs; YouTube is listed for both.
- Streaming from an iPhone: assess Wirecast Go separately, and verify its current compatibility and in-app terms in the App Store.
- Running a pre-recorded YouTube channel continuously: desktop production software is not the only approach. StreamNeo is a cloud service for uploaded videos and playlists, not a camera production app; it keeps a YouTube stream running without a home computer left on.
Or let it run in the cloud
If your goal is to keep uploaded recordings or a playlist live on YouTube around the clock, StreamNeo is an alternative to a desktop encoder: upload your video or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. Nothing has to stay running at home. Your upload streams at its original quality, up to 4K 60fps, at one flat price per slot; there are no quality tiers, and StreamNeo automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly access is $9.99 per month. See StreamNeo or start the free day.
