Sony presents Venom: The Last Dance (2024) as “the final film in the trilogy,” and no reviewed announcement supplies a fourth-film title, release date, returning cast or director. A separate animated Venom project is in development, but it has not been identified as Venom 4 or confirmed as a continuation of the live-action story.
Is Venom 4 confirmed?
No. Sony’s official description of Venom: The Last Dance calls it “the final film in the trilogy.” That is the company’s clearest current status language, and there is no official Sony announcement for a live-action fourth movie in the reviewed information.
- Title: no live-action Venom 4 title has been announced.
- Release date: none has been announced.
- Cast: no returning ensemble has been confirmed for a fourth live-action film.
- Director: no director has been announced for such a film.
Those missing details mean that dates such as 2027, or claims that a particular actor or director is locked in, should be treated as speculation rather than studio-confirmed news.
What comes after The Last Dance?
The trilogy currently ends with The Last Dance
Venom: The Last Dance is the third live-action entry after Venom (2018) and Venom: Let There Be Carnage (2021). Sony’s “final film in the trilogy” wording establishes how the company is positioning that series, but it does not constitute an announcement that the character can never return in another format or continuity.

An animated Venom project is in development
TheWrap reported on February 20, 2026, that Sony was working with Final Destination: Bloodlines directors Zach Lipovsky and Adam B. Stein on an animated Venom movie. Tom Hardy was attached in some capacity, although the report did not specify what that role is. It did not call the project Venom 4, provide a release date, or establish that it continues the live-action continuity.
Is the animated Venom movie the same as Venom 4?
Nothing currently confirms that. The animated project and a hypothetical live-action sequel are separate possibilities until Sony defines their relationship. The available information leaves the animated film’s continuity, character versions and Hardy’s precise involvement unspecified.

| Question | Hypothetical live-action Venom 4 | Reported animated Venom project |
|---|---|---|
| Medium | Live action | Animation |
| Continuity | Would need to establish whether it continues the trilogy | Unspecified |
| Confirmed personnel | No cast or director announced | Zach Lipovsky and Adam B. Stein reported as directors |
| Tom Hardy’s role | Future live-action return as Eddie Brock is unresolved | Attached in an unspecified capacity |
| Release-date certainty | No date announced | No date reported |
| Sony’s official status language | No official project announcement reviewed | Reported development, not announced as Venom 4 |
Will Tom Hardy return as Venom?
His definite return as Eddie Brock in a future live-action film is unresolved. Hardy’s reported attachment to the animated project does not identify whether he will voice Venom, produce, appear in another capacity, or participate in the live-action series. It therefore cannot be used as confirmation that he will lead Venom 4.
Why box-office numbers do not answer the sequel question
Commercial performance offers context, not a decision. The Associated Press reported these domestic opening-weekend figures in 2024 coverage:
Rank #3
- The disk has English audio and subtitles.
| Film | Domestic opening weekend | Additional reported figure |
|---|---|---|
| Venom (2018) | $80.2 million | — |
| Venom: Let There Be Carnage (2021) | $90 million | — |
| Venom: The Last Dance (2024) | $51 million | Approximately $120 million reported production budget |
These are reported figures for domestic opening weekends and an estimated production budget; they do not prove that Sony will commission, cancel or date another sequel. A studio’s future decision could also depend on strategy, scheduling, creative plans and the economics of a new project, none of which has been announced here.
Where can you watch The Last Dance at home?
Sony lists Venom: The Last Dance in 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray and DVD editions. Availability, territory and stock can vary, so check the current listing for your country before buying. These editions are the most clearly established physical home-release option connected with the trilogy’s ending.

What would count as real Venom 4 news?
A reliable confirmation would come with an official Sony announcement or a clearly identified production notice that names the project and provides verifiable details. Until then, readers should distinguish between:
- a live-action fourth film with an announced title, cast, director or release date;
- the animated Venom project reported in February 2026; and
- fan predictions or unverified 2027-release claims.
On the information currently available, the accurate answer is that Venom 4 has not been confirmed, while an animated Venom feature is reportedly in development with key details still open.
