What’s the catch with Will’s return?
Will comes to Chicago with his son Owen for time together, but the visit does not go as a simple reunion. Is Will Halstead coming back to Chicago Med permanently?
The available announcements establish a return spanning multiple episodes, not a full-time cast comeback. It is safest to describe Will’s appearance as a multi-episode return rather than promise an ongoing role.

As of October 8, 2026, NBCUniversal lists Chicago Med at 8 p.m. ET on Wednesdays on NBC. Peacock says Season 12 began on NBC October 7, 2026, with new episodes available to stream the next day; its series page lists 11 seasons.
