Marvel has not officially confirmed an animated character joining the live-action Avengers: Doomsday. Disney’s multiverse premise and the film’s crossover cast have fueled the possibility, but neither establishes that an animated character will appear. The status is unconfirmed, not a definitive no; a future announcement could change it.
What Disney has confirmed
Disney’s official film page lists a theatrical release date of December 18, 2026, and describes heroes from three distinct universes facing an existential threat. The page names a large cast that includes Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Pedro Pascal, Paul Rudd, Anthony Mackie, Florence Pugh, Channing Tatum, Ian McKellen, Patrick Stewart and James Marsden. The premise and cast point to a live-action crossover across Marvel film properties; they do not confirm characters from animation.
Why the crossover cast can cause confusion
The cast draws on multiple live-action Marvel continuities. D23’s March 26, 2025 cast announcement covered performers associated with the MCU, the Fantastic Four and Fox’s X-Men films. The Associated Press also reported on that announcement, noting actors returning to roles from the live-action X-Men movies: Patrick Stewart as Professor X, Ian McKellen as Magneto, Kelsey Grammer as Beast, Rebecca Romijn as Mystique, James Marsden as Cyclops and Alan Cumming as Nightcrawler.
These are crossovers between film franchises and continuities, not evidence of an animated character appearing in the movie. A multiverse story can bring different versions of characters together without including animation.

What the later announcement adds—and what it does not
In its recap of Marvel Studios’ July 25, 2026 San Diego Comic-Con presentation, The Walt Disney Company identified Hayley Atwell as returning as Peggy Carter. The recap also described Doctor Doom masks and cloaks distributed to attendees. It adds to the named cast information and the film’s promotion, but does not announce an animated character.
How certain is the answer?
The official film page and Disney’s Comic-Con recap do not name an animated character joining the live-action film. That is the limit of what those announcements establish: it does not rule out an unannounced cameo or a later casting reveal. Until Marvel or Disney confirms one, an animated appearance should be treated as speculation rather than announced cast information.
