The story does not finish here
The first film ends with a continuation card rather than resolving the full story. The Associated Press review warns that viewers may feel the wait for Part 2 after 160 minutes. That structure is part of the adaptation, not a self-contained ending, so expectations matter when deciding whether to watch.

Is Wicked worth watching?
It is a strong fit for viewers drawn to musical theater, elaborate production design, and lead performances built around song. Existing fans of Wicked may especially enjoy seeing its characters and numbers realized at film scale. If you prefer a concise, self-contained story—or are not fond of characters breaking into song—the length and part-one ending are meaningful drawbacks. The reviews point to a successful, ambitious musical, not a universally irresistible film.
