Spilt Milk organisers confirmed on 25 September 2025 that d4vd would not perform at the festival’s 2025 edition. They said they had removed him from the website and marketing the previous week “out of respect for the unfolding story” and were working on a replacement booking.
What did Spilt Milk organisers say?
In a statement reported on 25 September, Spilt Milk organisers said: “Last week we removed d4vd from our website and marketing out of respect for the unfolding story.” They added: “We can now confirm d4vd will not perform at Spilt Milk and we are working on a replacement booking which we’ll announce as soon as it’s finalised.”
The statement confirmed the lineup change and gave that brief public rationale. Contemporaneous coverage did not identify an individual spokesperson.
When was d4vd removed from the line-up?
The sequence was a quiet removal followed by a public confirmation. ABC triple j reported that d4vd had been removed from the festival website and marketing by 22 September 2025; organisers confirmed he would not perform on 25 September. ABC triple j’s updated line-up report covered the timing.

What was happening around the decision?
Contemporaneous reporting placed the lineup decision amid an investigation concerning the death of Celeste Rivas Hernandez. Rolling Stone Australia reported on 25 September 2025 that Burke had not been named a suspect or person of interest and had not been accused of a crime at that time. That is a time-specific account of the reporting then, not a later legal update. Rolling Stone Australia’s report provides that context.
Organisers did not spell out their internal deliberations, give a more specific explanation for the phrase “unfolding story,” or announce any finding about the investigation. Their statement should not be read as a legal conclusion.
