Harry wore the cap while attending Game 4 at Dodger Stadium with Meghan. Because the Dodgers were playing the Toronto Blue Jays, some Canadian observers saw his choice as a snub of Toronto. That reaction was reported as a perception among some people, not as a view shared by all Canadians. The Associated Press described social-media criticism, while The Guardian reported Harry’s explanation and the team rivalry.

In a CTV interview during his Toronto visit, Harry said: “Firstly, I would like to apologise to Canada for wearing it,” followed by, “Secondly, I was under duress. There wasn’t much choice.” The Guardian reported that he explained the cap was a polite gesture after the couple were invited to the game by the Dodgers’ owner. He also joked: “When you’re missing a lot of hair on top, and you’re sitting under floodlights, you’ll take any hat that’s available.”
At a True Patriot Love Foundation dinner on November 6, Harry said, “I am truly sorry for wearing a Dodgers cap.” The Associated Press also reported his joking aside: “But all jokes aside, this city has always meant a great deal to me — you provided me a wife.”

When did the hat appear, and when did the apology happen?
The events were separated by more than a week:
- October 28, 2025: Harry and Meghan attended Game 4 of the World Series at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles. The Dodgers were facing Toronto, and the couple were photographed wearing Dodgers caps.
- November 6, 2025: During a Toronto visit for Remembrance Week activities, Harry addressed the cap in a CTV interview and at the True Patriot Love Foundation dinner.
- November 7, 2025: The Associated Press and The Guardian published reports on the apology.
The apology was therefore not made at the game or immediately afterward. CTV published its interview video on November 6: CTV’s interview with Prince Harry.
Did Harry support the Blue Jays?
During the CTV interview, Harry put on a Blue Jays cap. He said he rooted for Toronto in Games 5, 6 and 7, but the Dodgers won the series in seven games, according to the Associated Press and The Guardian. The cap change and his comments gave his apology a playful, rather than formal, tone.
