What happens in the scene?
Early in Deadpool & Wolverine, TVA agent Mr. Paradox shows Wade Wilson an image of a possible future: Thor cradles an injured Deadpool and cries. The film moves on without explaining what led to the moment or what it means.

Reports say the cameo was assembled using archival footage from Thor: The Dark World (2013), with Deadpool digitally replacing Loki in Thor’s arms. That describes how the image was created, not the reason for Thor’s tears. ComicBook.com’s July 31, 2024 report covers the scene and Reynolds’s post.
What did Ryan Reynolds and Chris Hemsworth say?
Reynolds teased an answer
On July 31, 2024, Reynolds posted: “I know why Thor was crying. I can’t unknow it.” He did not explain the reason in that post. It is a tease, not an account of what happens in the story.

Hemsworth played along, then said he was also wondering
Hemsworth replied on August 2, 2024: “I can keep secrets too.” The line continued the joke without revealing an explanation. ComicBook.com reported the reply.
In an interview reported September 13, 2024, Hemsworth said, “I’m asking the same question.” He added, “You’ll have to keep your focus on the Marvel Universe cause there will be an answer. It will be told one day.” He did not name a film, series, release date, or plot. Did director Shawn Levy know why Thor was crying?
No. In comments reported by Entertainment Weekly in September 2024, director Shawn Levy said the film was not designed as a setup for another movie or sequel, and that Kevin Feige had not required it to serve a story beyond the film. Asked about the mystery, Levy said: “The answer being: I don’t f—ing know. No one does, but I’d sure love to be the guy who helps find out why.”
That comment makes clear that the scene was not presented by Levy as a planned sequel clue with a known answer behind it. It does not rule out a future explanation; it means Levy said he did not know one at the time of the interview.
