An attendee said racism was his reason for booing; a later report cited Hogan’s politics as another likely factor. The available reporting does not establish one motive shared by everyone in the arena.
What happened at Raw’s Netflix premiere?
Hogan entered the January 6, 2025 event at Inglewood, California’s Intuit Dome with Jimmy Hart, accompanied by “Real American.” Some attendees initially cheered the entrance music, TheWrap reported, but the response shifted to louder boos and expletive-filled chants when Hogan took the microphone. He praised the WWE–Netflix partnership and promoted Real American Beer. WWE had announced a multiyear partnership involving the beer brand and an ownership stake. TheWrap’s account of the appearance
The Los Angeles Times reported that the boos continued during Hogan’s catchphrase, references to Randy Savage and Andre the Giant, praise for Netflix, and shirt-ripping pose. The sequence matters: the negative reaction was not limited to the entrance or a single line. But the timing alone cannot tell us what each person in the crowd was reacting to. Why were fans booing Hogan?
Criticism over his past racist language
A leaked recording made public in 2015 captured Hogan using a racial slur. TheWrap reported that WWE removed him from its Hall of Fame that year and reinstated him in 2018 after he apologized. The Los Angeles Times also noted that Hogan had been loudly booed at a WWE live event in 2021. These episodes show that the controversy remained a source of public criticism, but they do not prove why any particular fan booed in 2025.

An attendee said racism was his reason
Actor O’Shea Jackson Jr., who attended the premiere, told TheWrap that he, Eric Andre, and Wale joined the booing. Asked why, Jackson said: “The racism, bro. It’s just hard to forget how detailed that rant was.” His explanation is direct evidence of his own reason—not a poll or a representative account of the arena.
Hogan’s visible support for Trump may also have mattered
Hogan spoke in support of Donald Trump at the 2024 Republican National Convention, called Trump his “hero,” and said the assassination attempt had prompted him to speak publicly. The Associated Press later quoted ESPN writer Marc Raimondi saying Hogan’s support was “full-throated” and “wasn’t subtle,” adding, “I think that absolutely hurt him.” AP also reported that Hogan later said politics had a lot to do with the boos. Those comments support politics as a plausible factor, not as a proven explanation for the whole crowd.

Why the boos cannot be pinned on one cause
The same-night comparison complicates a politics-only explanation. The Los Angeles Times reported that other figures associated with Trump—including The Undertaker, Paul Levesque, and Stephanie McMahon—were cheered at the event. That does not rule out political disagreement with Hogan among some fans; it does mean the evidence does not support reducing the reaction to a simple partisan verdict.
The most careful reading is that Hogan’s racist-language controversy and his prominent political alignment were both plausible sources of disapproval, while the promotional segment supplied the immediate setting. No audience poll or quantified breakdown of motives is available in the cited coverage, and the reports do not establish that the beer promotion, Netflix praise, or any one detail independently caused the boos.
