4K at 60 frames per second is a supported YouTube Live ingest profile, so a 30fps display does not prove that YouTube imposes a universal 4K limit. First find out where the frame rate changes: in the encoder’s outgoing signal, in YouTube Live Control Room, or only during a particular viewer’s playback. The exact cause depends on your encoder, stream-key settings, upload, and the evidence shown in stream health.
Find the stage where 60fps becomes 30fps
A camera or project set to 60fps does not guarantee that the signal reaching YouTube is 60fps. An encoder output profile or another stage in the capture and production chain may be set to 30fps. Conversely, if YouTube’s incoming-stream evidence shows 60fps but a viewer sees 30fps, the problem may be specific to playback; YouTube transcodes live streams into multiple output formats for different devices and network conditions, but its documentation does not identify a particular reason that one viewer might receive 30fps.
- Check the encoder’s actual output. Record the outgoing resolution and frame rate, codec, bitrate, rate-control mode, and keyframe interval. Check the encoder output—not just the camera or project settings.
- Check YouTube Live Control Room. Compare the preview and stream-health status, and read any specific warning or error. YouTube says it detects encoder settings automatically by default.
- Compare a viewer’s playback separately. If the incoming stream appears to be 2160p60, check playback quality on another device or viewer before concluding that the ingest is 30fps. A playback observation alone does not establish what YouTube received.
- Change one setting at a time and test again. Use representative motion and check the preview and stream health after each change. YouTube recommends testing before going live with content similar to the actual stream.

If YouTube is receiving 2160p30
Inspect the output profile and capture chain
Look for a 30fps setting in the encoder’s output profile, then trace the signal through the camera, capture device, switcher, and production software. The goal is to identify the actual stage sending 30fps, rather than changing unrelated settings based only on the camera’s frame-rate selection.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Check stream-key resolution handling
YouTube’s default is automatic detection of encoder settings. If you use a custom stream key with manual resolution settings, check that selection against the output you intend to send. YouTube documents both automatic detection and manual resolution selection for custom stream keys; it does not establish that a particular setting is responsible in your case.
Match codec and bitrate to 2160p60
If you are configuring a 2160p60 output, YouTube lists the following ingest bitrate minimums and recommendations. These are guidance, not a guarantee of a particular frame rate or diagnosis of a 30fps signal.

- What You Get: Anker USB-C Hub (5-in-1, 4K HDMI), welcome guide, 18-month warranty, and our friendly customer service.
| Codec | 2160p60 minimum bitrate | 2160p60 recommended bitrate |
|---|---|---|
| AV1 or H.265 | 10 Mbps | 35 Mbps |
| H.264 | 14 Mbps | 50 Mbps |
Use constant bitrate (CBR), which YouTube recommends, and set a two-second keyframe interval. YouTube says not to exceed four seconds.
If the incoming stream is 60fps but playback looks like 30fps
Keep ingest and playback diagnosis separate. YouTube says it transcodes a live stream into multiple output formats to serve different devices and network conditions. Check playback quality and compare another device or viewer, while also confirming what the Live Control Room preview and stream-health information show. The available YouTube guidance does not specify why an individual playback session might appear to be 30fps, so do not treat one viewer’s observation as proof that the incoming signal was downgraded.

If stream health points to network instability
Network trouble matters when the stream-health evidence or a representative upload test points to a delivery problem; it does not explain every stable 30fps encoder output. YouTube says the total stream bitrate must not exceed available upload bandwidth and recommends leaving 20% headroom. A shared connection can reduce the bandwidth available to your stream.
- Compare sustained outbound upload capacity with the selected stream bitrate, leaving YouTube’s recommended headroom.
- Test the connection during conditions representative of the live session and watch stream health.
- If the connection is shared, account for other traffic using it while streaming.
A network change is not a substitute for correcting an encoder profile that is sending 30fps. Make one change at a time, then repeat a test with representative motion.

4K latency is a separate setting
YouTube says the low-latency option is unavailable for 2160p streams, which use normal latency. That latency limitation is not a statement that 4K is capped at 30fps.
