There isn’t one confirmed XSplit bug behind every video that stops looping. First identify what is playing: a local video file in an XSplit scene, a YouTube webpage captured as a source, or a YouTube Live broadcast being watched in a browser. XSplit handles local files and webpages as different source types, and the fix depends on which one you mean.
Identify where playback stops
- Local file: XSplit plays a video stored on your computer. Its playback controls are in the Video source properties.
- YouTube webpage: XSplit renders a webpage as a Webpage source. This is distinct from a local Video File source.
- Live broadcast: The source may still play in XSplit while the YouTube output has stopped, or a viewer may be watching a replay in a browser. These are separate situations; the available XSplit documentation does not explain why an ordinary YouTube replay would stop looping.
XSplit’s official Sources Menu introduction lists Video File, Webpage, Video Playlist and Media Slideshow as separate source types. Its Image, Video, and Audio Source guide describes local-file playback controls.
If XSplit is playing a local video file
- In the scene, right-click the Video source and open its properties. Confirm the intended file is linked, then review the playback controls. XSplit documents supported formats including MP4, FLV and WEBM; compatibility and behavior can depend on the file and setup.
- If you need clips to play continuously as a sequence, try the Video Playlist source. XSplit describes it as supporting continuous playback and other playback options.
- If you are presenting both videos and still images, consider Media Slideshow. XSplit’s product page describes it as able to loop multiple images or videos; that description does not guarantee that every source type or webpage will loop.
- If a file stalls or behaves inconsistently, note the XSplit version, file format and whether the issue affects one file or all files. Change one setting at a time so you can tell whether behavior changes.
XSplit’s Settings guide documents video processing choices and a legacy Media Foundation engine for supported local formats MP4, WMV, AVI and ASF. These are troubleshooting options, not a confirmed fix for a particular looping failure. The guide does not establish that changing the processing mode or engine will resolve this symptom.
If XSplit is capturing a YouTube webpage
- Check that the source is Webpage, not Video File. The two source categories have different playback paths.
- As a diagnostic, compare the webpage’s behavior with the same clip loaded as a local file, where you have a lawful copy and the file format is supported. This comparison can help isolate whether the problem is specific to webpage rendering; it is not a documented official fix.
- If Browser Source Special Optimization is enabled, test with it disabled and compare the result. XSplit warns that the optimization may not work perfectly on some systems and may show a black or empty webpage. That warning does not establish it as the cause of a video that stops looping.
Do not assume that a YouTube policy or a specific browser restriction is responsible: the cited official material does not establish either as the cause of this symptom.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
If the source loops in XSplit but the YouTube live output does not
Check the source and broadcast output independently. If the source itself stops in XSplit, troubleshoot its source type and playback settings. If the source continues in XSplit but the broadcast stops or freezes, investigate the output path separately. XSplit’s source documentation treats scene sources and broadcast setup as distinct parts of the workflow; its YouTube guide to creating a live stream with an encoder covers broadcast configuration, not control of an XSplit media source’s loop.
A practical troubleshooting checklist
- Write down which source type is involved: Video File, Webpage, Video Playlist or Media Slideshow.
- Record the XSplit version, operating-system version, video format and whether the issue affects one clip or every clip.
- Observe whether playback stops in the XSplit preview or only in the YouTube output.
- For a webpage source, compare behavior with Browser Source Special Optimization enabled and disabled.
- For a local file, verify the file assignment and playback controls; if appropriate, test a playlist for continuous multi-clip playback.
- Change processing settings only as controlled tests, and revert a change if it does not help.
The available documentation does not identify one root cause for the exact symptom, and the question provides no XSplit version, Windows build, source type or file details. A capture card, stream deck, webcam, new drive or repair utility is not established as necessary by these troubleshooting steps.
