Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsIt depends on how the video was added. For a YouTube page in a Browser Source, check the player’s repeat behavior and whether Streamlabs Desktop shuts down or refreshes the source when scenes change. For a video file on your computer, check the local Media Source’s Loop option. These are different playback paths, so the local-file loop setting will not make a YouTube webpage repeat.
First identify how the video was added
In Streamlabs Desktop, look at the video item in the Sources list. It may be a Browser Source showing a webpage, a Media Share widget, or a local Media Source playing a file from your computer. Each has a different playback mechanism, so start with the source type rather than toggling unrelated settings.
- Browser Source: a web URL, which may show a YouTube player.
- Media Share: a separate Streamlabs widget that can display public YouTube video links.
- Media Source: a video file stored locally on your computer.
Streamlabs describes Browser Source visibility controls in its Browser Source documentation. Its Media Share instructions describe that widget as a separate source. The OBS Project’s Media Sources documentation covers looping local files.
If the video is a YouTube page in a Browser Source
Inspect what happens when the source is hidden
- In the Sources list, open the Browser Source’s properties.
- Check Shutdown source when not visible. Streamlabs says this stops the webpage or video while the source is hidden. If playback stops when you switch away from a scene, test with this option disabled.
- Check Refresh browser when scene becomes active. Streamlabs says this reloads the page when the source becomes visible again. If the video restarts or behaves differently after returning to the scene, test with this option disabled.
- Change one option at a time, then repeat the same scene switch that previously interrupted playback.
These controls affect the source’s behavior around visibility changes; they do not themselves enable repeat in the YouTube player. Browser Source displays a webpage, so repeat behavior belongs to the page or player. The available documentation does not establish one universal set of steps for enabling repeat in every YouTube player or embed context. Check the player you are actually using rather than assuming a local-file Loop checkbox applies.
#1 Best Overall
- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
If the video is a file on your computer
- Select the local Media Source in the Sources list and open its properties.
- Confirm that Loop is enabled. The OBS Project documents this option as replaying the file after it finishes.
- Keep Restart playback when source becomes active distinct from Loop. Restart controls what happens when the source becomes active; by itself, it does not continuously replay the file.
- Test through a complete pass of the file, then test hiding and showing the source separately.
If the source is Media Share
Treat Media Share as a widget, not as a local Media Source or a Browser Source you created for a YouTube page. Streamlabs’ setup article describes adding Media Share as a source and supports public YouTube video links. That article does not establish that Media Share has a repeat option. If a shared video stops, note whether it ends after one play or stops after a scene change, then check the widget’s current controls and documentation rather than relying on the local-file Loop setting.
Use the symptom to narrow down the cause
| What you observe | Where to check | What the documentation supports |
|---|---|---|
| The video ends after one pass, without a scene change | Browser Source: the YouTube player or page. Local Media Source: its Loop option. Media Share: widget controls. | Local Media Source Loop replays a file; the reviewed Media Share article does not confirm a repeat option. |
| Playback stops when you switch scenes or hide the source | Browser Source properties, especially “Shutdown source when not visible.” | Streamlabs says this option stops the page or video while hidden. |
| Playback reloads or restarts when you return to a scene | Browser Source properties, especially “Refresh browser when scene becomes active.” | Streamlabs says this option reloads the page when the source becomes visible. |
| The problem remains unclear | Identify the source type, then reproduce the exact trigger while changing one relevant setting at a time. | The cause cannot be determined universally without the source type and symptom; the documented controls do not establish a single general bug. |
This is a diagnostic path, not proof of a cause in every setup. Official documentation describes the relevant controls, but does not confirm one universal cause for YouTube videos stopping or failing to loop across Streamlabs Desktop versions. Streamlabs’ YouTube streaming guide covers general setup, not this particular looping symptom.
