IBM Video Streaming’s documented encoder workflow sends a broadcast into an IBM channel using an RTMP or RTMPS URL and stream key; that documentation does not establish that IBM automatically sends the channel’s feed onward to YouTube. If IBM shows the broadcast but YouTube does not, check the separately configured YouTube destination or integration rather than assuming IBM-to-YouTube syndication is enabled.
Identify which feed is missing
“Feed” can refer to a live broadcast, a playlist, an IBM channel-page listing, an embedded player, or a route that sends video from IBM to YouTube. These are different stages and require different checks.
- Encoder to IBM: An encoder sends a broadcast into a selected IBM channel.
- Playlist or channel listing: A video or playlist is expected to appear on an IBM channel page or embed.
- IBM to YouTube: A broadcast visible in IBM is expected to appear on YouTube through a separate destination or authorized workflow.
IBM’s broadcast-settings documentation describes encoder-to-IBM ingest, not automatic outbound delivery from IBM to YouTube. The account’s enabled features and exact routing setup are not established here. IBM Broadcast Settings
Troubleshoot in the order the video travels
1. Confirm the intended route
Determine whether the encoder is meant to send video to IBM, YouTube, or both. If the encoder is configured only for IBM, do not expect that alone to make the stream appear on YouTube. Check who configured the YouTube destination and which account or integration is responsible for it.

2. If the encoder should send to IBM, verify IBM ingest
- Open the intended IBM channel’s Broadcast Settings and find its encoder URL and stream key.
- In the encoder, confirm that the destination URL and key match the current credentials for that exact channel. A wrong channel, URL, or stale or invalid key can prevent the intended IBM ingest.
- Start the encoder and check whether IBM reports an active broadcast or displays the stream.
IBM documents third-party encoder ingest using RTMP or RTMPS; its guidance includes OBS Studio, Wirecast, TriCaster, and vMix. Keep the stream key private: it is an authorization credential, and anyone who obtains the URL and key may be able to broadcast to the channel. IBM Broadcast Settings
3. If “feed” means a playlist or IBM channel listing, check its visibility state
- Check whether the playlist is scheduled or published. A scheduled playlist is not ordinarily shown to viewers before its broadcast.
- If it should appear as a regular channel-page playlist, check whether it has been unscheduled and published, and whether it is enabled for the relevant channel page or embed.
- Only manual playlists can go live. IBM also notes that scheduling a playlist may require an initial genuine encoder-based live broadcast; without one, the interface may show “Please initiate a test broadcast.”

4. Check monitoring and service status
Use IBM’s dashboard Live Monitoring and Troubleshooting tool to examine broadcast performance, viewer activity, channel configuration, and platform health. Then check IBM’s service-status page for a reported interruption. IBM Live Monitoring and Troubleshooting · IBM Video Streaming Status
5. Contact the owner of the failing stage
If IBM receives and displays the broadcast but YouTube does not, investigate the separately configured YouTube destination or contact the person or service that manages that route. If the problem is on IBM, open a support case or live chat. Include the channel or video identifier, approximate timestamp and time zone, screenshots, exact error message, encoder name and version, and whether IBM itself displays the live stream. Use the evidence to narrow down the cause
