Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsIf FFmpeg keeps playing the same clip instead of moving through your YouTube 24/7 playlist, first check what repeats locally: the first file, the entire list, or the FFmpeg process itself. A concat playlist normally reads its entries in sequence; repeating one clip more often points to the input and loop options, the playlist’s contents or format, or a supervisor restarting FFmpeg. If local playback advances correctly but YouTube stalls or disconnects, investigate stream health and your outbound connection separately. Without your command, playlist, FFmpeg version, logs, and YouTube health messages, there is no reliable way to name one root cause.
Identify exactly what is restarting
Before changing loop settings, distinguish three symptoms that can look alike from YouTube’s viewer side:
- The first clip repeats before later entries: check which input FFmpeg is using, where loop options are placed, and what the playlist actually contains.
- The complete list plays, then starts over: this may be the intended whole-playlist loop. Check whether the restart happens at the end of the list or unexpectedly in the middle.
- The FFmpeg process exits and starts again: inspect the process manager, shell script, container restart policy, or scheduler. A newly launched process may start at the beginning of its input each time.
Watch FFmpeg’s local output or logs while the transition happens. If its output advances through the intended clips, but the YouTube preview freezes, disconnects, or reports an ingest error, playlist looping is not the first thing to change.
Check the command and the input each option applies to
FFmpeg input options apply to an input. In particular, verify that any -stream_loop option appears before the -i for the source it is meant to loop. A command that loops a single MP4 is not equivalent to one that reads and loops a multi-entry concat list. Do not rearrange options blindly: confirm the actual input associated with each option in your command.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Also check whether anything outside FFmpeg is launching it again. Look for a service manager, a shell loop, a container policy, or a scheduled job. If the process identifier (PID) changes at each apparent restart, that is evidence the process is being relaunched rather than simply advancing through one input.
Verify the playlist’s format and contents
Confirm the exact file passed to -i, its ordering, paths, and entries. Check for duplicate lines, missing clips, and whether it contains every file you intend to play. Do not assume an .m3u or .m3u8 playlist has the same format or meaning as an FFmpeg concat script; the file extension alone does not establish how FFmpeg will interpret it.

The FFmpeg concat demuxer reads listed files sequentially; it does not inherently mean “repeat the first file.” The format and the options in the actual command determine how the input is interpreted. Consult the documentation for the FFmpeg version installed on your host: the online manual is rolling and may differ from older builds. FFmpeg concat demuxer documentation.
Check whether clips are compatible at the joins
The concat demuxer virtually concatenates streams rather than normalizing each clip. FFmpeg requires the files to have matching streams, codecs, and time bases. Differences or incorrect duration metadata can cause artifacts or gaps at transitions. These problems may look like a playback interruption, but they do not by themselves establish why a particular clip is repeating.

If the clips differ and need to be normalized, use the concat filter and re-encode rather than relying on demuxer stream-copy concatenation. That approach has a processing cost and requires choosing output settings; it is not a fix for a loop option pointed at the wrong input or a process manager restarting FFmpeg.
Separate local playback from YouTube ingest
Once you have established what FFmpeg is doing locally, compare it with YouTube’s status at the same time. Open YouTube Live Control Room and inspect timestamped stream-health messages. YouTube reports issues that can involve unsupported formats or codecs, missing or multiple streams, bitrate, audio or video settings, and keyframe frequency. Match the message to the time of the visible interruption rather than changing playlist behavior in response to an ingest warning.

For encoder configuration, YouTube currently recommends constant bitrate (CBR) and a keyframe interval of 2 seconds, not exceeding 4 seconds. The appropriate bitrate depends on the selected codec, resolution, and frame rate, so use the current YouTube table for your configuration instead of applying one bitrate to every stream. YouTube: Choose live encoder settings, bitrates, and resolutions.
Check the reliability and capacity of the outbound connection as well. YouTube recommends upload bandwidth with a 20% margin above the stream bitrate and warns that a connectivity disruption can break a stream. This is a recommendation, not a guarantee against outages. YouTube: Streaming tips.

Use output recovery only for output failures
FFmpeg’s fifo pseudo-muxer can optionally attempt recovery after output failures. It may help when the output connection fails, but it cannot correct a playlist with the wrong entries, an incorrectly placed input option, or a process supervisor that keeps relaunching FFmpeg. Diagnose the input and process behavior first; use recovery features for the layer they address.
Collect useful evidence without exposing your stream key
If the cause is still unclear, gather evidence from the same restart window. Test changes privately or with an unlisted stream before modifying a public broadcast.
- A redacted FFmpeg command. Remove the stream key; never post it publicly.
- The output of
ffmpeg -version, so the build can be identified. - The playlist text and the exact input filename, with any sensitive paths removed if needed.
- A short FFmpeg log excerpt covering the transition or restart.
- Whether the FFmpeg process PID changes when the symptom occurs.
- The timestamped YouTube Live Control Room health message corresponding to the same moment.
Or let it run in the cloud
If the problem is that a home computer or connection cannot stay available, StreamNeo is a YouTube-only cloud service that loops uploaded videos; it does not go live from a camera. The setup is:
- Upload a recording or build a playlist.
- Add your YouTube stream key once.
- Go live; StreamNeo loops the video from the cloud, so your computer and home connection do not have to stay on.
Each slot runs one always-on stream, supports 24/7 looping and playlists, includes 10 GB storage per slot pooled across active slots, and offers automatic recovery if YouTube drops the stream. Uploaded video streams as made, up to 4K 60fps, at one flat price per slot with no re-encode or quality tiers. The first day is free with no card, one free day per account. Plans can be paid by day, week, month, 6 months, or year and canceled any time; UPI and cards are accepted in India, and card checkout is available worldwide. For 5 or more slots, contact support. StreamNeo does not fix an incorrect FFmpeg command or playlist; it is an alternative when you want uploaded videos to run from the cloud.
Monthly: $9.99 per month. See StreamNeo for details, or start the free first day.
