There is no reliable way to tell why viewers leave your 24/7 YouTube bhajan stream without looking at that stream’s own analytics. Use YouTube Studio to find when departures cluster, then compare the retention timeline with concurrent viewers, stream-health events, traffic sources and devices. These patterns can point to what to investigate; they cannot reveal an individual viewer’s motive.
What YouTube analytics can—and cannot—tell you
A sudden drop at a particular elapsed time, a dip around a stream interruption, or shorter sessions from one traffic source or device are useful clues. None proves that a particular song, visual, title or technical issue caused viewers to leave. The channel’s retention curve, stream-health history and audience mix are not available here, so its specific cause cannot be determined.
YouTube Studio provides key moments for audience retention, average view duration, average and peak concurrent viewers, traffic sources and devices. Google’s Analytics API also documents measures including audienceWatchRatio, relativeRetentionPerformance and stoppedWatching. They help locate where viewing changes; they do not ask viewers why they stopped.
Diagnose the stream in YouTube Studio

Open the individual live video’s analytics
In YouTube Studio, select the live video and open its Analytics. Review the audience-retention report, average view duration, and average and peak concurrent viewers. YouTube’s guidance describes retention reporting for the video; for its vertical-stream breakdown workflow, an ended live stream must be at least 24 hours old. Locate when the audience changes
Look for drops or changes at specific elapsed points rather than relying only on a stream-wide average. A gradual decline and a sharp dip call for different investigations. Compare retention with concurrency: retention describes viewing across the video timeline, while concurrent viewers show how many people are watching at a given time.

Check stream health and operational events
In Live Control Room, review stream health and available real-time measures such as average view duration. Compare warnings or interruptions with the points where retention or concurrency changes. A coincident event is a reason to investigate, not proof that it caused departures.

Compare traffic sources and devices
Use the traffic-source and device breakdowns to see whether the pattern is concentrated among viewers arriving from a particular source or using a particular device. If so, test whether the title, thumbnail or opening experience sets suitable expectations for that audience before changing the whole stream.

Test one plausible change at a time
Once the analytics identify a pattern, choose one factor that could plausibly match it. For example, investigate stream reliability if exits cluster around a health warning, or review playlist transitions if changes recur at those points. If the pattern is concentrated in a traffic source or device group, consider whether the presentation matches what those viewers were led to expect.
Compare periods with similar traffic-source and device mixes where possible. If several factors change together, you will not know which one mattered. A test can show whether a pattern changes; it cannot guarantee a retention improvement.

Use devotional programming and interaction thoughtfully
YouTube for Artists recommends interacting with fans in chat and comments, using Shorts and social posts to direct viewers to a stream, planning engaging activities and making past live streams available on demand. For a bhajan stream, adapt interaction to the listening context—for example, use a restrained chat prompt rather than assuming every viewer wants active participation. Treat each idea as an experiment, not a proven fix for this channel.

YouTube for Artists also reports that over 30% of daily logged-in YouTube viewers watched live content in Q2 2025. That is platform-wide context, not a statistic about bhajan streams or an explanation of this channel’s short sessions. See YouTube for Artists’ guidance on going live for music channels.
Confirm music rights before changing the format
Check that the channel has the necessary rights for the actual recordings being streamed. YouTube for Artists advises creators using copyright-protected music to coordinate with a label or distributor to avoid issues such as copyright strikes.
