A 24/7 stream does not, by itself, explain a change in YouTube channel membership revenue. To find what moved, compare membership transactions and member activity over matching billing periods, and check whether you are looking at estimated Analytics revenue or finalized AdSense earnings. A live stream’s viewers, duration, or aggregate RPM cannot isolate a change in membership billing.
First, identify which “membership revenue” figure changed
YouTube shows several related but distinct measures. Before comparing numbers, note the report, metric label, currency, date range, and whether the figure is estimated or finalized.
- Memberships tab: Shows earnings for the last billing period, alongside membership information.
- Analytics membership revenue: Lets you inspect membership revenue over a selected custom date range.
- Transactions: Counts new sign-ups and recurring membership transactions; transaction counts are not the same thing as revenue.
- AdSense for YouTube: Shows finalized earnings. These can differ from estimated Analytics revenue.
If you compared two different screens, or a custom Analytics range with the Memberships tab’s last billing period, the figures may cover different dates or represent different stages of reporting.
Check membership activity in YouTube Studio
- Open YouTube Studio → Analytics → Revenue → How you make money → Memberships.
- Select the custom date range you want to examine. Note the range and currency so you can compare the same basis in each period.
- Review the Transactions Revenue card for new sign-ups and recurrences.
- Compare those transactions with members gained, cancellations, members lost, active members, total members, gifted memberships, and the mix of membership levels, using the Memberships tab and relevant Audience or Revenue reports.
- Compare like-for-like periods, then check whether the estimate has been finalized in AdSense for YouTube.
Member counts need careful interpretation: total members can include people who canceled but still have access through the remainder of their paid period; active members exclude canceled members. A total-member count therefore may not move in step with cancellations or the current active count.

YouTube membership billing periods can be 28, 30, or 31 days depending on the month. A calendar-month Analytics range may not match the last billing period shown in the Memberships tab. Comparing those windows as if they were identical can make a normal timing difference look like a revenue change.

For a useful comparison, write down the start and end dates for each report, then compare periods of equivalent length and type. If you are comparing estimated revenue with finalized earnings, label that difference separately rather than treating it as a change in membership activity.
Why RPM and live-stream metrics do not answer the membership question
RPM combines revenue sources, including ads, memberships, YouTube Premium, Super Chat, and Super Stickers. A change in RPM therefore cannot show whether memberships specifically rose or fell; use the membership revenue breakdown for that.

YouTube also says revenue reports are unavailable when filtering for Live in the live-metrics workflow described for those reports. Analytics data is processed and based on video ID. Concurrent viewers, stream duration, and a Live-only report do not establish that membership transactions changed.

Live streams can have other monetization activity, including ads, Super Chat, and Super Stickers, but ad serving is not guaranteed for every slot. Those sources can affect an aggregate revenue figure or RPM; they are not a substitute for the Memberships-specific report.

Separate reporting changes from what the stream may have coincided with
The available reporting definitions do not establish that starting a 24/7 stream automatically changes membership revenue. They also cannot identify the cause on an individual channel without the channel’s report values and comparison dates. Use the transaction, cancellation, member-count, and level-mix comparisons above to see what changed in your own account; do not infer a membership billing cause from the stream alone.
Analytics revenue is an estimate. Finalized earnings appear in AdSense for YouTube and may differ, including because of applicable tax withholding. Compare the same reporting stage before deciding that membership performance changed.
Account for YouTube’s revenue share and any network terms
YouTube says creators receive 70% of membership revenue after applicable taxes and fees are deducted, and that YouTube currently covers transaction costs, including card fees. If your channel belongs to an MCN, the network may take an additional share; check your network agreement when reconciling what reaches you.

Keep a simple diagnostic record
For each period, record the Studio screen and metric, currency, start and end dates, estimated or finalized status, sign-ups and recurrences, cancellations and members lost, active and total members, and membership-level mix. This gives you a like-for-like comparison and helps distinguish a change in transactions from a difference in date windows or estimate versus final earnings.
