Neither the Molineres nor HISTORY has publicly confirmed why they left—or whether they were fired, chose to leave, or were dropped from the cast.
When did Jay Paul and R.J. leave Swamp People?
Reports identify Season 10 (2019) as the father-and-son team’s last season and say they were missing from Season 11. That timeline comes from entertainment coverage, not an official departure announcement: HISTORY’s cast pages provide biographical information but do not explain the change. The Cinemaholic and BiographyPedia report the timeline.
Why were they on the show in the first place?
Jay Paul and R.J. appeared as a father-son team, identified by HISTORY as the Molinere team in their Jay Paul Molinere bio and R.J. Molinere bio.
In a 2012 interview with PowWows.com, R.J. described how they joined. He said producers wanted to add a Native American cast member for Season 2; when they approached him, he said he had a partner and could not do the show without Jay Paul. Did they leave because of a legal incident?
Some coverage raises a 2013 legal matter as a possible explanation, but the connection to their later departure has not been established. The same reporting places their final season years afterward, and no reviewed source provides a statement from the family, HISTORY, or the show’s producers linking the incident to the casting change. It should not be treated as the reason they disappeared.
Do HISTORY’s cast pages mean they returned?
No. HISTORY’s cast listing and show page still include the Molineres, but a listing is not confirmation that they appeared in current episodes. The pages do not announce a return or explain their absence.
