Co-host Bowen Yang agreed. Their comments were an electoral opinion about the Texas race, not a poll-based forecast or evidence about Crockett’s campaign finances.
What Rogers and Yang said on Las Culturistas
The exchange appeared in the episode “Exit Interview (The Cathartic Episode),” published Jan. 7, 2026. Rogers said, “And don’t waste your money sending to Jasmine Crockett. Do not do it.” Yang replied, “I must agree.” Read the episode transcript.

Rogers repeated that listeners would be wasting their money and referred to having sent Sara Gideon “like a ton of money in Maine.” Yang added that money is “hard enough to come by.” Rogers presented Gideon as a personal example; the anecdote does not establish anything about Crockett’s fundraising or prospects.
Why they discouraged donations
Rogers framed his advice as a judgment about whether Crockett could win a Texas Senate seat. Later in the exchange, he said he was not fatalistic about Democrats’ chances, but argued against nominating what he characterized as an establishment California Democrat. Yang agreed with Rogers’ recommendation not to give to Crockett.

#1 Best Overall
That was the hosts’ political assessment, not an independently established finding about the race. The transcript and contemporary coverage do not identify a poll or other statistic supporting Rogers’ prediction. Mediaite’s Jan. 9 coverage identifies Crockett as a Texas Democrat running for the U.S. Senate and places the exchange in a wider discussion of Democratic politics, including the 2016 election and candidates the hosts viewed as establishment figures.
Did they respond to the backlash?
Contemporary coverage reported that Rogers and Yang responded to criticism of the remarks. Rogers acknowledged that his phrasing was not right. The available coverage establishes that a response followed, but does not provide a complete primary-source transcript of both hosts’ responses. The Advocate and Daily Beast reported on the response.

What the comments do—and do not—establish
The episode records donation advice and an opinion about electability. It does not provide a campaign-finance analysis, a polling basis for the prediction, or a probability of Crockett winning. A listener deciding whether to donate would need current, independent information about the race and the campaign rather than treating the hosts’ exchange as evidence of financial or electoral outcomes. The reviewed coverage does not substantiate the prediction with a named statistic; no named supporting statistic was established.
