What was reported before the game
Before the kickoff, Entertainment Tonight reported that Lively was not planning to join Swift that year. Elle relayed the report with this line from an unnamed source: “Blake is not planning to join Taylor at the Super Bowl this year. They had a blast together last year, but this year Taylor is bringing others along.”
The passage describes a plan, not a decision made known to the public, and it came from someone who was not identified. It is the earliest reporting on the absence, and it does not give a reason beyond the plan itself.

On February 10, 2025, Us Weekly cited a source who said: “She was hoping to do some traveling before A Simple Favor 2,” and “she and Ryan [Reynolds] are keeping a low profile at the moment.” This is the most direct explanation in the reviewed coverage. It is still anonymous, and it describes Lively’s plans rather than a stated motive for skipping the game.
Stress, family and not overshadowing Swift
Marie Claire UK relayed further unnamed-source claims that Lively was staying close to home to avoid added stress and to focus on her family, and that she did not want to overshadow Swift. These statements are secondhand. They are not Lively’s own words, and nothing in the reporting verifies them.

- Whether Lively was invited, and how any invitation was handled.
- Whether the travel plans described by Us Weekly were the actual reason, or one of several factors.
- Whether the stress and family explanations reflect Lively’s own view.
- Whether the Baldoni dispute played any role in the decision.

Stick to what each source supports. The following wording matches the evidence:
- “Lively did not attend Super Bowl LIX.” This is documented.
- “Entertainment Tonight reported, citing an unnamed source, that Lively was not planning to join Swift.” This is attributed.
- “Us Weekly reported, citing an unnamed source, that Lively was hoping to travel before A Simple Favor 2.” This is a reported explanation.
- Avoid stating that Lively skipped the game because of Baldoni, that Swift excluded her, or that the friendship had ended. None of these is established by the coverage.
Lively and Swift are the only people who can say why the decision was made, and as of the reporting reviewed, neither has done so on the record.
