Spoilers for Arcane Season 2, especially Episode 7, “Pretend Like It’s the First Time.” The headline’s exact flashback is not identified, but the likeliest match is the episode’s alternate-timeline story about Ekko and Powder. Its emotional force comes from showing a possible life shaped by different losses and choices—not from undoing what happened in the main story.
Which Arcane Season 2 scene is the headline about?
The title does not name a character or episode, so the identification cannot be certain. The strongest fit is Episode 7, “Pretend Like It’s the First Time,” which follows Ekko and Powder in an alternate timeline. A third-party transcript and audience discussion support that reading, including attention to the pair’s dance and the story’s poignant contrast with the main timeline. Those sources make this a plausible identification, not confirmation of the headline author’s intent.
Netflix describes Arcane as the origin story of sisters Vi and Powder, whose lives place them on opposing sides of the conflict between Piltover and Zaun. In the main story, Powder becomes Jinx; the names mark different stages of her identity, not interchangeable characters. Season 2 begins after Jinx attacks the Piltover council, with the sisters’ separation widening.
Why the alternate timeline hurts
A glimpse of another set of choices
The alternate timeline gives viewers a way to imagine how these characters might live if their histories had taken different turns. That “what could have been” reading is an interpretation of the episode, rather than a stated creator explanation. It can feel especially sharp because viewers carry the main story’s losses and fractures into this quieter version of the characters.

The dance and the contrast
Audience conversations and entertainment coverage single out the dance as an emotional high point. Some viewers describe crying or call the scene a look at “what could have been.” These are individual reactions, not evidence that every viewer responds the same way. The contrast between the alternate story’s intimacy and the main timeline’s painful history is what gives those reactions their context.
How Arcane makes memory visible
Arcane’s visual approach can give emotional history a physical form. In a Netflix Tudum making-of feature, Fortiche art director Julien Georgel said, “We tried to bring the viewers to new moods and environments.” Discussing Janna’s temple, he described it as a canvas for paintings by Jinx that show important moments in her life. Those remarks concern the show’s broader visual storytelling, not specifically Episode 7’s dance.

Production designer Arnaud-Loris Baudry also said, “Sometimes we fall in love with the energy of the first sketch, but will work for months to keep its essence in the final design.” That production context helps explain the care behind Arcane’s visual worlds, but it should not be mistaken for a direct account of how the alternate-timeline sequence was conceived.
Netflix’s Season 2 guide quotes Ella Purnell on the consequences of choice: “One of the biggest themes of ARCANE is, you are the choices that you make, and you can never predict the consequences of those choices.” It also quotes Hailee Steinfeld on Vi’s trauma and its continuing effects. Those comments speak to the season’s broader themes, rather than offering a specific interpretation of Episode 7.
Where to watch or collect Season 2
Netflix’s official guide lists both seasons as streaming on Netflix. For viewers who want a physical copy, Riot Games’ official North American store page lists a Season 2 collector’s edition with episodes 1–9 on 4K UHD and Blu-ray, more than three hours of bonus features, original artwork, dice, a poster, pins, art cards, and an episode guide. The page was marked “Out of Stock Preorder” and “Notify Me” when checked, with estimated fulfillment beginning February 28, 2026. Availability and fulfillment information can change; Amazon stock, pricing, and edition details were not verified.
