Goldberg said the industry is politically mixed and has historically leaned right. The available reports confirm what each person said on air. They do not show whether an actor’s political endorsement affects his or her career.
What Levi said before the segment
Levi made his remarks at a Michigan campaign event where he endorsed Trump. He also introduced Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and Tulsi Gabbard. Coverage reports that Levi had earlier supported Kennedy’s presidential campaign before switching to Trump.
At the event, Levi described Hollywood as “very liberal.” He suggested that openly backing Trump could hurt his standing in the industry. The wording reported by The Daily Beast from the clip shown on the program is: “Within my industry, as you can probably imagine, Hollywood is a very, very liberal town, and this very well could constitute career suicide.”
How Goldberg responded on The View
Goldberg told the panel that Levi’s view was not necessarily true. She argued that Hollywood has always leaned right and that the town is politically mixed. Her quote as reproduced by Mediaite and Fox News:

“We are, like America is, we’re mixed. We’re a mixed bunch and sometimes it may seem like there’s more Democrats and sometimes it seems like there’s more Republicans, but the truth of the matter is, very few people seem to bite it because they’re Republican.”
To support the point, Goldberg named conservative actors Jon Voight and Dennis Quaid, who she said kept working. Those two examples illustrate her argument. They are not a systematic study of how politics affects hiring.

Claims in the exchange and how far the evidence goes
Each side made a claim about the industry. The table separates what was said from what the coverage can support.
| Claim | Who made it | What the coverage establishes |
|---|---|---|
| Hollywood is very liberal | Levi | Stated on the program; no survey or employment data cited in the reports |
| Endorsing Trump could be career suicide | Levi | Stated as a possibility (“very well could”); no documented case in the reports |
| Hollywood has always been right-leaning and politically mixed | Goldberg | Stated on air; no named statistic on the industry’s political makeup in the reports |
| Conservative actors such as Voight and Quaid kept working | Goldberg | Named as examples; the reports do not give their career histories in detail |
The coverage therefore records participants’ opinions and anecdotes. It does not contain representative data on Hollywood’s politics or on how political views affect actors’ careers. Neither side’s claim is settled by this exchange.
