The competition’s published results name these three venues in order:

The competition page says voting was limited to one entry per person and closed at noon AWST on 12 June 2026. A Western Rock Lobster-sponsored PerthNow report says the public vote received more than 2,000 valid votes across more than 50 venues. That is a count of votes, not an independent measure of food quality.
Why The Cray is associated with a win
The Cray won the 2024 competition, when it received 650 votes among 50 venues, according to PerthNow’s report published on 6 June 2024. That year, Southerlys Tavern placed second and Lobster Shack third. The Cray’s 2026-dated article carries the same headline as this topic, but its claim of a fourth consecutive win does not match the 2026 results page or PerthNow’s 2026 account.
The initiative is an annual public-vote campaign associated with WA Cray Day, timed around WA Day. Western Rock Lobster’s 2024–25 annual report says the campaign began with the 2021 WA Cray Day campaign and identifies Seven West Media as a partner. The report records more than 1,200 public votes across 40-plus venues in 2025.

What the vote does—and does not—tell diners
The published material describes a public vote, not a blind tasting or critic-led assessment. Its rankings show which venues received the most support in that campaign; they do not establish that one restaurant serves better lobster than another for every diner.
The finalists are spread across different locations: Cervantes, Port Denison/Dongara, and Currambine. The available competition information does not provide comparable current prices, complete menus, opening hours, or travel times, so it cannot support a value or convenience ranking. Check each venue’s current menu and operating details before making plans.

What The Cray says it serves
The Cray identifies lobster mornay, also called The Cray Platter, as its signature dish and says it sources Western Rock Lobster from Geraldton Fisheries Co-operative. Those are the restaurant’s own descriptions; the competition placing alone does not independently verify sourcing or compare dishes across venues.
