The best-supported accounts identify three important relationships in Tupac Shakur’s life: Madonna, Keisha Morris and Kidada Jones. Morris became his wife before their marriage was annulled; Jones was his partner in his final months and was described as his fiancée in Associated Press reporting. The sources establish these relationships, but not a complete list of everyone Shakur may have dated.
Madonna: a relationship she later confirmed
Madonna confirmed in 2015 that she and Shakur had dated. Recalling an interview from the 1990s, she said, “I was dating Tupac Shakur at the time.” Vogue’s account also reports that Shakur wrote her a letter dated January 15, 1995, while he was in prison. These details support that they were a couple, but they do not establish a reliable start-to-end timeline for the relationship.
Keisha Morris: his girlfriend and former wife
Morris met Shakur in New York in the summer of 1994, while she was attending John Jay College of Criminal Justice. They married while he was incarcerated. Their marriage was annulled ten months later. In an interview reported by XXL, Morris said they remained in contact until days before his death. She is therefore described accurately as both a girlfriend before the marriage and his former wife.
Kidada Jones: his partner and reported fiancée
Jones and Shakur began dating after he apologized for remarks he had made about her father, Quincy Jones. In a first-person account quoted by The Washington Post, Kidada wrote, “Tupac was the love of my life,” and said they lived together for four months before he was murdered in Las Vegas in 1996. The Associated Press described Jones as Shakur’s fiancée on the trip to Las Vegas shortly before his death.

What can be said about Shakur’s relationships?
The three relationships have different levels of specificity in the record: Madonna later confirmed they had dated; Morris’s relationship with Shakur led to marriage and annulment; and Jones was his partner near the end of his life and was identified as his fiancée in AP reporting. These accounts do not justify ranking the relationships or making a claim about whom he loved most.
They also do not amount to an authoritative census of everyone Shakur may have dated. Treat longer celebrity-dating lists cautiously when they do not distinguish documented relationships from rumor or friendship. For broader context on Shakur’s life, Penguin Random House lists Staci Robinson’s estate-authorized biography; it is a general biography, not a book specifically about his romantic relationships.
