How did Uche Ojeh die?
Uche Ojeh died in May 2025 at age 45 after an aggressive battle with glioblastoma. NBC’s Today announced Ojeh’s death on May 23, 2025. At the time, Jones had been away from the program while dealing with a family health matter. News coverage described Ojeh primarily as Jones’s husband and the father of their children, rather than as a celebrity in his own right.

Jones returned to Today in September 2025 and spoke with Savannah Guthrie about Ojeh’s death and the continuing process of grieving. She described the loss as changing the life she had known since she was 19. Her comments reflected ongoing grief rather than a neatly concluded period of mourning.
Jones’s public role after Ojeh’s death has included discussions of motherhood, family, grief, and resilience. Her later work should not be confused with a biography of Ojeh. For readers interested in her perspective on parenting and family life, Sheinelle Jones’s book Through Mom’s Eyes is a separate work focused on wisdom from mothers who raised extraordinary children. The hardcover, published by G.P. Putnam’s Sons on April 14, 2026, is 256 pages and carries ISBN 9780593719336. It is relevant to Jones’s broader public story, but it is not a book about Ojeh.
Why was Uche Ojeh not widely known before his death?
Ojeh was connected to a nationally recognized television host, but he did not maintain the same public profile. His documented life is found mainly in family accounts, professional records, and coverage of Jones’s absence from and return to Today.
