What happened on Wicked Night?
Wicked Night was Season 34, Episode 6, and it came immediately after Dedication Night, an episode with no elimination. The normal elimination format therefore resumed for the Wicked-themed show.
Guest judge Jon M. Chu joined Carrie Ann Inaba, Derek Hough, and Bruno Tonioli. Chu directed the Wicked film adaptations, making him a particularly relevant guest for an episode built around the songs, characters, and imagery of that story.

Why wasn’t Andy Richter eliminated with the lowest score?
Andy Richter and Emma Slater received the night’s lowest judges’ score, 27/40, but they survived. That result illustrates why the lowest score on an individual episode does not automatically determine who leaves Dancing With the Stars.
The show’s elimination outcome reflects a combination of judges’ scores and viewer votes. Richter’s support from viewers helped keep the couple in the competition, while Hoying and Arnold were the pair eliminated despite scoring one point more than Richter and Slater on the night.

Richter and Slater had the weakest two-week combined judges’ total, but the voting component affected the final result. The numbers show why the leaderboard and the elimination announcement can tell different stories.
