What did Kate Cassidy say after Liam Payne’s death?
Payne died in Buenos Aires on October 16, 2024, aged 31, after falling from a hotel balcony. The date is important because older articles and search results may still describe Cassidy as his current girlfriend.
On October 18, Cassidy posted an Instagram Story asking for privacy and saying she was unable to process what had happened. She referred to Payne as her “angel” and said she would continue to love him for the rest of her life. ABC News reported on her first public statement.
Five days later, on October 23, she published a longer tribute. She called Payne her best friend and the love of her life, and wrote about the future they had discussed, including the note about marriage. In November 2024, Argentina’s prosecutor’s office announced charges against three people relating to alleged abandonment and the supply or facilitation of drugs.
