Makena White was professional golfer Jake Knapp’s girlfriend. Reports described them as a couple for about two years. A friend announced White’s death at age 28 in September 2025; neither that announcement nor Knapp’s reported statement disclosed a cause of death.
Who was Makena White?
White was the partner of PGA Tour golfer Jake Knapp. The Associated Press described her as Knapp’s girlfriend of two years. Yahoo Sports reported that an NBC broadcast said they began dating in August 2023, while E! News noted that White posted about their second anniversary on August 11, 2025. These reports offer a timeline, but do not establish a precise date when the couple first made their relationship public.
Yahoo Sports placed the couple’s public introduction around Knapp’s first PGA Tour win, at the Mexico Open in February 2024. That is a reported point in their public timeline, not necessarily the date they began dating.
What happened to Makena White?
On September 26, 2025, a friend announced White’s death on White’s Instagram account, according to E! News. The friend wrote that White had died earlier that week. The Associated Press also reported on the announcement and said it did not explain how she died.

What else is reported about White?
The Standard reported that White was from Ottawa, attended McMaster University, and worked in surgical sales. Those details were not independently corroborated by a primary source in the reporting reviewed, so they should be understood as attributed biographical information rather than independently confirmed records.
Hollywood Life reported that the friend’s post suggested donations to Bruyère Brain Health & Memory Clinic or the Griffin Bell Endowment Fund. That reported memorial suggestion does not establish a cause of death. Anyone considering a donation should check the organizations’ official information and current instructions directly.
