Aomar Aït Khedache was identified by the Associated Press as the ringleader of the armed robbery of Kim Kardashian in Paris in 2016. In 2025, a Paris court convicted Khedache and seven other defendants and acquitted two. Although sentences were imposed, AP reported that none of those convicted returned to prison after credit for time served and suspended terms.

What happened to Kim Kardashian in Paris?

On October 2, 2016, during Paris Fashion Week, armed men entered the residence where Kardashian was staying. Reports said the attackers wore police clothing and forced the night concierge to lead them to her suite. They restrained Kardashian with zip ties and tape and took jewelry.

At the 2025 trial, Kardashian testified that she feared she would be killed. As the Associated Press reported her testimony, she said: “I absolutely did think I was going to die.” That is her account of the attack, not a separate finding about the defendants’ intentions.

Who was convicted, and what role did Khedache have?

A Paris court found eight of the ten defendants guilty in 2025 and acquitted two. AP identified Aomar Aït Khedache as the ringleader. The verdict came nearly nine years after the robbery.

AP reported that investigators linked Khedache to DNA found on the bands used to bind Kardashian. It also described wiretaps in which he gave orders, recruited accomplices and arranged to sell diamonds in Belgium. These are details from AP’s account of the evidence; the court’s written judgment is not available in the reporting cited here.

In an interview reported by ABC News, convicted participant Yunice Abbas said he did not know Kardashian’s identity at the time and knew her as “the wife of an American rapper.”

Did the robbers go to jail?

The court imposed sentences, but AP reported that none of the convicted defendants returned to prison after the verdict: time already served and suspended portions of sentences accounted for the outcome. Khedache received an eight-year sentence, with five years suspended. AP said the court considered defendants’ ages and health, as well as the nine-year delay between the robbery and trial, when sentencing.

What was stolen, and did Kardashian get her jewelry back?

AP reported that the thieves took jewelry valued at more than $6 million, including a diamond ring Kardashian wore to a Givenchy show and a watch given to her by her late father. That amount is a reported valuation, not a definitive itemized court inventory.

A diamond-encrusted cross dropped during the escape was the only piece of jewelry reported recovered. In its May 2025 account, CBS News said the rest of the haul had not been recovered. The reports cited here do not establish whether any additional items were recovered later.

What the case coverage establishes—and what it does not

The reporting establishes the court’s 2025 verdict and sentences, the defendants’ acquittals or convictions, and the accounts of the robbery and investigation reported by the outlets. It does not provide the court’s written judgment or establish whether appeals or later legal developments followed the coverage. AP also reported Kardashian’s post-verdict statement that the crime was “the most terrifying experience of my life,” leaving a lasting impact on her and her family.
