In a childhood flashback in Season 1, Episode 2, “Some Mysteries Are Better Left Unsolved,” Jayce and Ximena are caught in a blizzard. When Ximena collapses and Jayce calls for help, a hooded mage appears, uses a magical crystal to transport them to safety, and leaves Jayce with the crystal. Why do some accounts say the mage was Ryze?
The first season leaves the mage’s identity mysterious on screen. Netflix’s Season 1 recap names the figure as Ryze, reflecting the interpretation at that point in the story. Season 2’s completed narrative later recontextualizes the rescue: the mage is future Viktor. That is why older summaries may say Ryze while the series-wide answer is Viktor.
