Andra Day plays Athena, Annabeth’s mother, in Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 2. Disney’s official cast guide also features a broad set of season-two roles, including Tantalus, Thalia Grace, the Gray Sisters, C.C., Polyphemus, Zeus, Alison Simms and Chris Rodriguez. Disney does not identify an official, definitive list of exactly ten new characters, so the roster below distinguishes season-two material from returning roles and season-three casting.
Who plays Athena in Percy Jackson Season 2?
Andra Day plays Athena, the Greek goddess of wisdom and Annabeth’s mother, according to Disney’s official Season 2 cast and character guide, published February 4, 2026.

Which other Season 2 characters and performers did Disney announce?
Disney’s guide documents more than ten plausible season-two additions and featured roles, but it does not set out a canonical list of exactly ten “new” characters. The table follows the guide’s published cast and character material and uses cautious status labels where the material does not establish a character’s first-appearance status.
| Performer | Character | Status and story connection |
|---|---|---|
| Timothy Simons | Tantalus | Season-two role; Camp Half-Blood’s interim activities director. |
| Tamara Smart | Thalia Grace | Season-two character material; Zeus’s daughter, transformed into the tree that protects Camp Half-Blood. |
| Sandra Bernhard | Anger Gray | One of the Gray Sisters. |
| Margaret Cho | Wasp Gray | One of the Gray Sisters. |
| Kristen Schaal | Tempest Gray | One of the Gray Sisters. |
| Rosemarie DeWitt | C.C. | Season-two character material. |
| Aleks Paunovic | Polyphemus | Season-two character material. |
| Courtney B. Vance | Zeus | Season-two character material. |
| Beatrice Kitsos | Alison Simms | Included in Disney’s season-two character guide. |
| Kevin Chacon | Chris Rodriguez | Included in Disney’s season-two character guide. |
Disney’s official Season 2 fact sheet confirms many of these cast pairings, including Day as Athena, Simons as Tantalus, Smart as Thalia, the three Gray Sisters’ performers and DeWitt as C.C. The guide’s “new cast and characters” grouping does not establish that every person listed is making a first appearance in the series.

Are Nico di Angelo and Bianca in Season 2?
No. Disney’s July 24, 2025 Season 2 announcement identifies Nico di Angelo and Bianca as Season 3 casting, not Season 2. That distinction matters when comparing casting announcements across seasons.
What is Season 2 about?
The season adapts The Sea of Monsters, the second book in Rick Riordan’s series. After Camp Half-Blood’s protective border is breached, Percy sets out into the Sea of Monsters to find Grover and the Golden Fleece. Annabeth, Clarisse and Tyson—Percy’s newly discovered cyclops half-brother—help him face Luke and Kronos, according to Disney’s July 2025 announcement.
When did Percy Jackson Season 2 premiere?
Disney’s fact sheet lists the U.S. premiere as December 10, 2025, with new episodes weekly. A later trailer announcement describes a two-episode premiere on Disney+ and Hulu, followed by weekly Wednesday releases. The July 2025 announcement described an exclusive Disney+ premiere. These are dated, territory-specific platform statements; availability can vary by region, so check the current listing where you watch.
