Six facts about Rob France and his relationship with Tan
1. They met in 2008
Tan told The Guardian that he met Rob on a work trip in January 2008 and that they connected over similarities in their conservative upbringings. A 2025 South China Morning Post profile says they met through a dating website; the accounts describe different aspects of how they met.
2. They reportedly had two wedding ceremonies
The Guardian reported that they married in the United States in 2013, after the Defence of Marriage Act was overturned. The later South China Morning Post profile adds that they had an earlier wedding in London in 2007, followed by the U.S. ceremony in 2013.

3. Rob moved from nursing into art
The 2025 South China Morning Post profile describes Rob as a freelance artist whose work focuses on figure illustration, with occasional abstract portraits. It also reported that he was taking a brief hiatus from art at the time; that account does not establish his current availability for commissions.
4. They have two sons
The South China Morning Post identifies their sons as Ismail, born in 2021, and Isaac, born in 2023, and reports that both were born via surrogacy. Good Morning America covered the announcement of the couple’s second child in May 2023.
