Did Adam Lambert replace Freddie Mercury?
No. Lambert’s role is distinct from Mercury’s. A Hollywood Records press release quotes Lambert saying, “There is never going to be another [Freddie Mercury] and I’m not replacing him.” The collaboration’s billing reflects that distinction: Lambert performs with Queen, but is not presented as Mercury’s replacement.
What was Freddie Mercury’s role in Queen?
Freddie Mercury was Queen’s historic lead vocalist and a creative voice behind the band, according to his official biography. That history is separate from the current Queen + Adam Lambert performances.
