Haliey Welch identified “Pookie” as Kelby Blackwell when she introduced him on a November 2024 episode of Talk Tuah, according to contemporaneous coverage. Reports described Blackwell as a plumber from Welch’s hometown. The name had prompted public curiosity for months, but speculation—including guesses that Pookie was an NFL player—was not the answer reported after the reveal.
Who is Pookie?
“Pookie” is Kelby Blackwell, whom Welch introduced as her boyfriend on Talk Tuah in November 2024, according to PerthNow’s contemporaneous report. Dexerto and Pubity also reported that Blackwell was the person behind the nickname.
PerthNow described Blackwell as a plumber from Welch’s hometown who preferred to remain out of public view. That account helps explain why the identity became a question for viewers: Welch had used the nickname publicly, while the person it referred to was not a familiar public figure.
How the mystery unfolded
- June 2024: Dexerto’s retrospective account says a “Pookie” shout-out in a viral interview helped prompt curiosity about who Welch meant. That earlier clip is described by secondary coverage, not independently verified here.
- October 2024: PerthNow reported that Welch and Blackwell had made their relationship official. This is a month-level report, not a confirmed date for when they began dating.
- November 2024: PerthNow reported that Welch introduced Blackwell on Talk Tuah; Dexerto and Pubity also covered the reveal.
What Welch and Blackwell reportedly said
PerthNow quoted Welch introducing him with: “I just want to show the people that I can pull a bad b****.” The report also quoted her saying: “My man is a bad b**** and I’m proud of it, that’s my arm candy right there.” These are quotations reproduced in secondary reporting, rather than dialogue checked against an official transcript.

What the reveal did—and did not—confirm
The reports identify Blackwell as Pookie and place the introduction on a November 2024 Talk Tuah episode. Before the reveal, some speculation reportedly suggested Pookie might be an NFL player; the coverage identifies Blackwell instead. Rumors should not be treated as evidence about his identity.
