Community glaucoma screening
One area of her work examined community glaucoma screening using spectral-domain optical coherence tomography, commonly known as spectral-domain OCT. In a screening context, the technology can be studied as a way to identify people who may need further evaluation.

Screening research is not the same as establishing that every person tested has glaucoma. A screening result can indicate that additional examination is warranted; diagnosis and treatment decisions require appropriate clinical assessment by an eye-care professional.
Glaucoma suspects and diagnostic technology
Other publications linked to Blumberg examine technology used in the evaluation of glaucoma suspects. A glaucoma suspect may have a finding—such as elevated eye pressure, an unusual optic-nerve appearance or a questionable visual-field result—that requires monitoring or further testing but does not by itself prove that glaucoma is present.
Visual-field damage and quality of life
Her research also addresses the relationship between central visual-field damage and quality of life. Visual-field testing measures areas of vision, rather than simply determining whether a person can read an eye chart. Damage near the center of the visual field can be especially important for tasks such as reading, recognizing faces and navigating everyday environments.

Additional work examines relationships among intraocular pressure, hypertension and glaucoma progression. Intraocular pressure is one of the factors clinicians consider when assessing glaucoma risk and monitoring patients, but pressure readings are not a complete description of an individual’s disease. The course of glaucoma can involve several interacting risk factors, which is why ongoing clinical evaluation matters.

The guest list included figures from the New England Patriots organization and entertainment circles, according to contemporaneous coverage. Those details helped make the event a prominent society and sports story, but the central fact is that Kraft and Blumberg married at the Manhattan event in October 2022.

Because Kraft is a highly visible sports executive, his marriage brought substantial media attention to Blumberg. That attention should not obscure the fact that her documented career predates the wedding coverage and is rooted in medicine and ophthalmic research.
Dana Blumberg’s Kennedy Center appointment
In February 2025, Blumberg was appointed to the Board of Trustees of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. The appointment appeared in a White House announcement and was also reported by NPR through WOSU Public Media.
This should be described as an appointment made in February 2025, rather than automatically presented as proof that she remains on the board at the time of publication. Board membership and institutional governance can change, and a current article should verify her status separately.

What is not publicly established?
Reliable public records reviewed for this profile do not establish every detail of Blumberg’s private biography. In particular, readers should be cautious about claims concerning:
- an exact birth date or age
- her parents, siblings or childhood
- her private residence
- the exact date when she and Kraft began their relationship
Those details should not be repeated as fact unless supported by a reliable, independently verified source. It is also reductive to define Blumberg only by her marriage to Kraft or by an age comparison that is not necessary to answer who she is. The better-supported description is that she is a physician and glaucoma-focused academic researcher who married a prominent sports owner in 2022.
Bottom line
Dana Blumberg is Robert Kraft’s wife and a physician with an academic background in ophthalmology. Her documented education includes Brown University, St. Louis University School of Medicine and Columbia University’s School of Public Health. Her research has focused on glaucoma screening, diagnostic technology, visual-field loss, quality of life and disease progression. She was also appointed to the Kennedy Center’s Board of Trustees in February 2025, although her current board status should be confirmed separately.
